Transmission fluid change trouble

Hey everyone, I'm currently trying to do a transmission fluid and filter change. The exhaust crossover pipe is still on the car and I was able to remove the torque converter drain plug. However there's not enough room for me to thread it back in. I want to remove the crossover pipe so that I can thread the torque converter drain plug back in. I removed all 4 bolts on the crossover pipe but the pipe will not budge. Am I missing something ? I thought that the upper part would easily drop down... but no matter how hard I pull down on it, it will not separate from the ?left header?.

Thanks all,
David

That's all that should be holding it on. Maybe if you loosen the exhaust brackets further downstream and make some room so you can separate the crossover pipe it might help. Sounds like it may just be corroded on there.

By the way, does anyone know a good brand, torque wrench to use on the transmission pan bolts?
I have a 25 -250 fl lb one which is of no use here.

I use the beam style for hand torque. Amazon is your friend and try to stick to name brand, usually 1/4 drive. Others may have better ideas.

I also use a beam-style torque wrench for the lowest-torque applications, indeed 1/4" socket.

For medium and larger jobs, I use the "click" type torque wrench.

This is the one I use:

Here's another one:
