Transmission

The R129 transmission is not plug+play.

Why do you want to do this?

:scratchchin:

OK. Well, the R129 transmission should bolt up (AFAIK) but the tail section is different. I believe you'd have to swap the tail section with your existing transmission.

Why not repair / rebuild your existing 500E transmission instead?

this 500E i never use it since 8.5 years and this transmission issue appear after the paint job ,this is the second time with transmission issue i prefer the manual transmission swap , what about e320 manual transmission ? the 5 speed cable transmission from 300E-24 ?

Manual transmission swap is a completely different discussion. I'm not sure if the W124 6-cyl 5-speed transmission is a good fit or not. I'd look into a modern 6-speed with overdrive.

Read this thread for more info... a guy swapped a 6-speed Mercedes transmission into a W124 E420 a few years ago.
