Hey people
I think i have asked this before...but i will ask again.
Does anyone have, or has anyone seen some kind of proof that the 3piece staggered Amg wheels were fitted to the e500e"s ,by AMG? Im talking about if there are some type of TUV paper floating around, or at least a brochure that says these wheels can be fitted to the e500e?

Anyone..? Any info is much apreaciated20250817_180121.jpg

The official brochure I believe states 8.5J all around, I don’t think the staggered setup ever came on the 124036. Staggered was for the 126 series cars.

So it seems that these were never offered for the w124036...?That sucks,,because they can then never be easily legally fitted to the car then..damnit.

Thank you .That is definetly something along the lines that i am after.Though it does say here that only 8.5x17 ET30 was for the 036"s :( Would be cool to have one of these " brochures from even earlier...This one shown here,is somewhat " updated/new" as it also speaks about " facelifts...maybe older ones would say different? Most likely not..but still...this is the stuff i am after.

1991 and 1992, but neither is going to provide you the info your looking for.

I did a quick search and found a couple of links to the AMG approval for these wheels for the R129: Prüfbericht 18 10 07 1354/1
If you get this document you will at least have something. Maybe contact TÜV Nord Mobility and ask if they have an approval for the 500E in their files already, you never know. It surprises me that so many 500E500 run with this wheel setup in Germany - which IMO means that they carries an approval. Maybe some German members here know more about this.

BTW, I have a crack free set of these wheels myself which needs refurbishment, mostly the lips & barrels. I may end up running with them, so I will look for this approval as well. I let you know if/when I find something.

There is no official Paperwork from MB for the 8.5/10.0 setup on the e500e, only 8.5s on all corners.
Back then you could order them at your dealer in stagered, but it was everytime special inspection at German TÜV. They used the r129/w126 Paperwork back then for axel weight etc. or still do..

for the „Historic/Classic Number Plate“ (30years) in Germany, the TÜV approves the 8.5/10.0 setup for: „Time-Correct-Modification“of the car. there is no trouble!

Thanks, that sounds promising!
That means it should be possible to achieve this approval for the 500E500 on a general basis. Who/where can be requested for this, I mean at which TÜV office or branch? Here in Norway we use TÜV Nord Mobility for ECE certification when importing cars.

I would just contact TüV Nord or TÜV Süd per email and ask them about your request with the wheels and historic time correct for the e500e. If you have no luck, let me now and I look, if I can get a contact for you at Tüv Nord.
I will send you a message. As i have not had any luck contacting the ones you mentioned.

If it is still an issue, try the homologation department of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. In the past they were very supportive, not sure how it it now. If you contact the TÜV, it would probably have to be TÜV SÜDWEST as they are according to my E60 documentation in 1994 the partner of AMG.
Thank you for suggestion.

I did read your challenge again. If I understand correctly you want to put different wheel dimensions front and back. I guess this will be a challenge, if the radius of the wheels front vs back is off by more than x% (which I believe is 3%) then cruise control, ABS and ASR and some other features don't work on the W124036. Now it is not that you get a direct error. You will notice it especially at high speeds that cruise control keeps coming off. I don't know how it impacts the other "helpers" in your car. The interesting part is that Mercedes never intended us to do anything they have not planned for. Like switch off ASR....

What for sure you need is the exact part number of the rims and then you should be able to find the approval docs, if they exit in a relative simple way.

@stfallet,
It has nothing to do with the rim size 16”, 17” or 18”. The rim width only affects the tires width size that you can fit in the fender well.

That 3% differential refers to the tire rolling diameter surface. The stock E500E tire is I believe 225/55-16 it has a rolling diameter of xxx”. Any plus size 17”or 18” tire cannot be more than 3% larger in rolling diameter than the stock 16” MB tire.

This is easy to compare if you check the tire sizes on the “Tire Rack”’website will have all the data you need for comparisons.

BTW, that 3% may be less more like 2%. I’m not sure on that @gsxr probably has that info.
