w124 bottom cushion too narrow between lower bolstering - customize foam?

Hi there. My body has atypical dimensions, I have a long torso but fairly short legs for my height (6'1") and my pelvis / hips are fairly wide.

I find bottom cushions on w124 seats to be a bit too narrow between the outer bolstering and metal spring rods that support the outer bolstering. One hip is often fatigued after an intermediate length drive from sitting up on the bolstering which slightly crooks my lower back (my hips do not sit level between the bolstering).

I noticed this issue with my 2014 E550 I had as well.

I have thought I could make a wider foam pad to place on the seat to widen the seating area but my head would touch the roof in a w124. Would you recommend modifications to the lower seat foam or would the seat springs need modification as well?

Thoughts appreciated.

Ian, do you find the same issue across multiple different 124 chassis seats?

Modifications along these lines would be a bit difficult due to the seat construction. I'd experiment with a standard 124 (non-Sportline) seat first. I am not sure if you would need to modify both the springs and 'horsehair' rubber pad. There is very little foam involved. You may want to pick up a used lower cushion to experiment with.

More or less yes. It's less pronounced on the flatter bottom standard seats, more accentuated when I have driven in a car w/ sportline seating in the past.
