I am currently chasing down an issue in which my parking break is being read as engaged on the cluster.
  • I've replaced the brake switch underneath the steering wheel
  • Ive done my best to adjust the star in the brake drum to both side, though now my parking break engages/disengages somewhat i am still driving around with the parking break engaged warning.
  • Ive removed the rear seats and have found sound deadening foam to which removed from the center seat area ive only ONE 12mm bolt, no where to see the other 2 ( I cannot make of the plate covering the slack adjuster )

Is there any other locations i can look for the slack adjuster on a 2005 E500 RWD Benz
I will provide a picture soon
Any help on details parking brake adjustment would help as well thankyou.

@kayster,
It’s been many years since I did this on my 124 500E but a 211 should be similar. MB doesn’t change mechanical designs that often.

If you have to adjust the emergency brake cable for slack or to tighten. There is an adjustment towards the rear of and above the drive shaft. Just follow the diagonal cables from the rear wheels (configured as a Y towards the front) to the center cable. You’ll find an adjuster there. If I recall correctly there are also cable adjusters on each wheel. These should be set semetrically before you adjust the stars at each wheel.

If I’m wrong someone will correct me.:)

Good Luck
