500E Water Drain Holes

Is there any list on all rain water drain holes on the 500E. Would like to rinse all the plugs to keep rust away.

Not sure there is a list, but I will tell you where most of the issues are.... Open the sunroof completely, get a small water bottle, 16 ounces and pour it in the corners (obviously the car should be on flat surface). Each corner (2 A pillar and 2 C pillar ) should drain instantly to the ground - though the rear has a longer travel distance because the roof doesn't open to the rear corner. It isnt a bad idea to run some compressed air thru the drains (rubber tubes) if they are plugged as a last resort but keep sun roof closed if you do that so the goopy stuff doent get in the car. After words, you can vacuum out the drain valley of the sunroof with some tubing and a shop vac. The engine bay also has tow drains at the firewall corners, just pour water there at each corner and hope your feet or ankles get splashed while doing so. If you keep car outside around trees, this is likely going to be jammed up with stuff. I suspect it is just one of the tings you do every time you open the hood - look for debris in the cowl and engine bay. When I wash the car, I dry the hood and lift it to the full service position. I check these things every time and take the shop vac with the hose to exhaust end to blow it out. It is faster than compressor and easier to manipulate quickly for me anyway. There is a drain in the gasoline access door, same deal - just pour some water there in it runs out quickly. Trunk wells on either side have drains too, not bad to review periodically. Hope it helps.

(side note that some some water with dish soap is a good idea for sunroof, followed by compressed air. I also once or twice in my MB ownership put some Aerospace 303 down there after they were clean and dry, just to condition them. It is overkill)

Originally they used a sealing cord on the frame, that dried out, shrunk and cracked and allowed water to enter under the floating seal that had shrunk over the years. That cord is not available, nor would I want it. The product used was searched by MB as an option. It is for newer cars. I am no expert, just reflecting on my personal experience. Improvements made over failures and that is what MB came up with to use instead, on both sides of the glass. YMMV :rugby:
