Rear Screen Water Leak

My Oman car is no more, I collected it from Tilbury Docks yesterday. So the UK weather demands I cure the leak over the Rear Left Passenger seat.

I will do a leak test tomorrow to try and isolate the source.

1 - the roof rail socket.

2 - the rear window glass along the top.

I have read that the rear glass can be problematic to remove without breaking it. I am thinking I would go to the dealer in the hope they will replace the glass if they break it without charging me. Probably need to confirm this with the Service Manager.

The alternative would be to use a specialist AutoGlass repairer.

What do you think? Any experience out there.

Clean out all the water drains first with a flexible wire poker or gentle compressed air (they could be choked with sand-grit), then watertest #1 (making sure #2 is isolated from any run-off).

If you must test the rear window, check out the pics here at post #8 (of a front window, but the fastening concept is the same):

Note the retaining clips; remove the rear window trim molding. You will be better able to inspect the rear window to body seal with the trim off.

You very likely can reseal the glass perimeter; let it dry. Watertest. If ok, reinstall trim.

No sense to replace rear glass unless you have to or really want to.
