REAR WHEEL ARCH "FILLER" PIECE

Can anyone post any photos of the location of those filler pieces, which fit in the rear of the rear wheel arch, between the forward edge of the rear bumper cladding, and the inner wheel arch?

Some while back I obtained a couple of 3 D printed copies of these pieces (supplied I think by a member on this board - the originals now being NLA), but have only just gotten around to trying to fit them, snd I am unsure exactly how they locate.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the pic! I cant see quite clearly enough in the photo - the filler piece has a grooved slot all down one of its long sides - does this groove slot over the turned in edge of the lower cladding?
There are 3 ridges in the OE filler piece, which lock into rectangular slots in the bumper edge - actually in a bracket behind the bumper. If you try to pry the filler piece out, often this will BREAK the bracket, which is not sold separately, and is of course unique to the 036. Make sure you don't plan to remove this again, and verify it's fully seated & snapped into place. I don't know if the aftermarket copies are as tenacious as OE in their latching ability.

Make sure the grooves in the ends of the bumpers are fully cleaned of road grime and dirt before trying to install the filler piece. A small flat-blade screwdriver (and optionally a toothbrush and spray bottle of water or some brake cleaner) will help clean this.

You will feel the piece “snap” in definitively and seat itself.

If you don’t get the “snap,” then it is not properly installed and WILL fall out. This is for the factory pieces, anyway.

Proper cleaning and prep is essential to keeping these pieces on your car.
