Hello Moderator,
Thank you for taking your time to work with this forum.
A few days ago I placed an ad to sell my Padjett Red 500E, but that ad has been moved and buried inside a post started by another member a few months back. His post started quite a while back and has many responses regarding the ad from a year ago when this same car was listed by someone else. I have spent a good deal of time and money on this car and would really like to sell it now, but banishing my ad to the bottom of a long list of outdated information is really working against me!
Help!
Robert
The way that cars for sale are arranged on this site, is by VIN number. All posts relating to cars for sale, when the VIN is confirmed, are consolidated. Otherwise, every time a car came up for sale, it would have a new thread, and there would be no history on the car that can be read in one place. That is just the way we do it here.
I would not say that information on a car's history and past owners/maintenance/condition is "a long list of outdated information" - rather it is an important part of a car's history and provides potential buyers with a more complete picture of the car's provenance and how it was maintained. If I was a buyer, I'd want literally as much information as possible on a car's background, because it would help me make a more informed buying decision.
Any thread that is updated with new information/posts automatically pops up to the top of the sub-forum. This is one reason that sellers often add a new post with the word "Bump" in it -- the post has not been updated for some days or weeks, so they "bump" it up to the top of the For Sale forum so that folks continue to see it. I have no problem with this practice unless someone would be doing this type of thing on a daily basis on their car's thread.
There is no question that for buying and selling E500E models, there is no more focused and relevant audience than the folks here on this site. You may have broader worldwide exposure on places like eBay, Bring a Trailer, AutoTrader and such, but for REAL buyers and experts who can evaluate a car, this is the site to list your car. This site has exposed and sold dozens of 500Es during the nearly 5.5 years it has been in continuous operation.
Trust me -- the cars and parts for sale sections on this forum are among the most heavily read areas of this site. PLENTY of folks who are not members here (just casual but regular observers) as well as the regular registered members, peruse the FOR SALE forums daily.
I hope this helps explain things.
