If you can set a date for NoVa next spring, let me know. I have a very close friend in Vienna, and would love to get up there to visit for a three-day weekend (would probably bring my wife for that one, so she can see my friend's wife, who is one of her best friends). Would be great to see you again & meet some of the other folks in the area.

I'd be up for meeting in late spring as well. Unfortunately I won't have an E500E but it would be great to meet other board members. I had a lengthy exchange of emails to get a nice example but in the end the owner (not a board member) just didn't want to sell. Too bad as that dragged on for a couple of months and I missed chances for other cars. I was even willing to spend above actual market prices to try to get the deal done. I was also a few hours late in trying to get Patrick's/G-Man's car. And now I have to put my search on hold because family/work requirements meant I needed to get a car asap so I bought a 2011 E550. Nice car but I would have preferred a 500E.

1) Start a new thread with the correct dates in the title.
2) Have Gerry set the date since he has a long way to travel and is combining with a visit to his friends.
3) Center the activities around the Vienna/Tysons Corner area.

Wow, I don't visit the site for a day and I get volunteered!!!! LOL (I guess it is DC after all, land of many talkers and delegators!). Seriously, I think Hollybrook's suggestions make a lot of sense.
Gerry, a few facts to help you pick a weekend. Notable Spring events that you might want to coordinate with you wife about:
March 28 - April 12 - National Cherry Blossom Festival (fireworks 4/4, parade 4/11)
May 4 - Cinco de Mayo Festival
May 10 - National Train Day
May 11 - Mother's Day
May 12 - Washington Memorial re-opening
May 13 - starting - Arlington National Cemetery 150th Anniversary
May 16-18 - Northern VA Fine Arts Festival
May 24-26 - Memorial Day celebrations
May 29-June 1 - Herndon, VA Festival
May 31-June 1 - Washington Folk Festival
Let me know if you want to consider dates in March or June. As you can see, lots going on once the weather warms up. Plus there are all of the permanent museums and exhibitions in DC and on the Mall. The Udvar-Hazy Exhibition at Dulles Airport is spectacular, though aviation oriented.
While I am honored to be "volunteered", I do feel a bit uncomfortable taking the lead on the GTG planning seeing as how I'm not geographically in NoVA and I haven't met any of its numerous members (except for 8899 via email). That being said, if Robert (ntrepid) is still willing to coordinate, I am happy to work with him on it (and to be clear, none of you other NoVA folks are off the hook either).
Lastly, from what I gather, both Katie and Kohl's cars & coffees are scheduled for every weekend, so if we "need" an "MB car event" there is always that. Perhaps one of the other Board members in NoVA might be able to arrange a visit to a local dealership or indy shop. Summit Point may also be hosting some worthwhile events though I can't see their 2015 calendar as of today. So unless anyone objects, the ball is in your (and your wife's) court Gerry!

I can't pick a date. You all are locals so I think you should pick it. The Deutsche Marque sounds like it could be an interesting weekend/excuse to show off y'all's .036s.
You name the weekend & I'll make plans & will be there. I may even try to make an .036 road trip out of it like I did with the MBCA StarTech in 2013.

He was a nice guy and we both got a laugh out of that.

I'm always at the mercy of my travel schedule, but I've penciled in the date. Hopefully I'll be there.

As you indicated, it may ultimately depend on who attends, how many, etc. There's so much to do in the area that smaller groups may choose to peel off to pursue specific interests (go-karting, wrenching, sightseeing, etc) with the larger group gathering for events such as the Deutsche Marque show and/or meals. It also is a good option to have in the event of inclement weather.
I am in NoVa near Dulles. No worries. I usually show at the DM and did last year. As the day gets closer we can firm things up a bit more.

I've got it marked on my calendar, and I think my wife will come with me and we'll do a long weekend out of it with our friends. She's going to reach out to them soon.
That said, whatever happens I'm planning to be there myself. I will make airline reservations over the Holidays and will use my mileage to fly free

In the meantime I need to give my car a jump because I have not taken it out for 3 weeks, and was out of town for a while. Thinking I should invest in a trickle charger for it. My 996 cranked right up, but 3 weeks and the 500 needs more juice to start. My fault for neglecting it.

I'm totally in on the GTG. I do have a few wrench projects I need to address:
- Replacement of antenna
- Pockets on driver and passenger doors peeling
- Full sunroof operation (currently tilts and slides open with proper button press but have to use the tilt option to close it)
Still willing to help with coordination.

Jimbo...you should get in touch with your E500E buddies who live down here. I've met one of them (is Mark is name?) on a couple occasions at the Great Falls and Fair Lakes C&C. He always brings his M5 and claims that his E500E needs work.... He needs to knock that wrenching out this winter!

Sure! There's no way I could turn down this much hospitality. As soon as there is a firm date range, I'll schedule the time off.
Sorry I've been scarce lately. Too much going on in Klink central right now, what with recent death in the family, estate matters, etc. And work has been crazy busy, which is way better than the opposite problem, so don't think I'm complaining. I'll be back to clean up some unfinished business (like 116/117 idle quality, etc.) in due or overdue(?) time.

FYI, we are targeting late Spring, more specifically the weekend of 5/1-5/3/15, to coincide with the Deutsche Marque event.
Trying to compile a list of projects/jobs that can be completed if folks want to do a wrench session. Do you all think an upper wiring harness can be completed during this session? Doing all my research now in the forum.
