Re: FS: 1993 500E, 040 Black/Black, 265kmi, $5000 (Portland, OR)

I bought it. I've been out in it a few times, took the kids (2.5yrs and 5yrs) and wife out for a rip last week, they were over joyed. Well, the kids, anyway. All giggles from the back seat as we tore around some corners. From the wife it was only, "Slow down, slow down!"

My apologies for not posting earlier here, but I sincerely wanted to give the buyer a chance to post here first. I'm so glad my old 500E is in good hands: he totally understands how much of a blast it is to drive, and I can't wait to see the improvements he makes. The coolest thing is that the buyer lives less than three miles away from me, so I'll hopefully be able to see my old car some times.

Thank you everyone!

hahaha... Yup, spose you would. Good lookin out.

I'll do my best! I'm not sure it'll ever be better than a solid driver, but I am proud of the 265K on the clock! Been slammed and unable to post in the owners thread. I will, tho.

Does anyone have the slightest idea what "Been Slammed and unable to post in the owners thread" means???

Anyone have a translator for that? Car slammed, Jeff's slammed?? Unable to post - huh??

I don't remember exactly, but wasn't there another name for this buyer besides "(deleted)" ?

His (Jeff's) user profile says he's the "Internet Sales Manager" at Mercedes-Benz of Beaverton.

Maybe his dealership is giving him a break on repairs??

I'm pretty sure the translation is: "I've been really busy with all sorts of things, including work. As such, I haven't had time to post in the Owners Forum, but I will try to post in the near future."

Jeff is awesome and he is legitimate - just walk into MB-Beaverton and ask for him by name. His days off are Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but otherwise he'll be there. He was kind enough to let me browse the MB dealership in Beaverton and offered to let me test drive some really expensive vehicles. I took a rain check due to the fact that it was raining (Portland), but they had a used C63 that was calling my name. Jeff was kind enough to give me a mulligan, and I will be happy to take him up on his offer to drive a really cool Benz sometime.

This guy knows his stuff - I highly recommend him.

Karl

Wait a minute ... didn't @[deleted] own this car previously? Did it change hands from @[deleted] to someone in Salem (current seller)?

At the current price, this car was a REAL bargain back a few years ago....

@[deleted] hasn't been on the forum since April, but I do recall that he once was a regular around here.

That's mostly the increase in market value from 3-5 years ago. It's still probably a good deal for someone who wants an 036 as a daily driver. Most of them nowadays under $10k are wrecked, and in need of unobtanium parts.

:roadrunner:

The wheels are a nice touch and I can't tell if the hood was repainted. Too bad the corrosion on the rear passenger panel didn't get fixed.

And dont forget that any $10k or under example is considered by some (Cough @gerryvz) to be a rolling parts donor.:hornets:

That's "rolling parts donator," mind you......but very definitely in today's market, that statement is true more often than not.

The cars that are still on the road and in decent condition, deserve to have parts provided to them by the rolling donators.
