400e transmission

So I bought myself a 1992 400e last year with 80,000 miles. It now has 82,100 miles on it. I have been noticing that it will slip a bit during a pull, in the 3500 to 4k range. Does this mean I’ll need a rebuild soon? I thot it wouldn’t happen with this low miles but maybe I’m wrong. What do you all think?

What is the condition and level of the transmission fluid? It certainly doesn't sound good based on the symptoms but that's a good place to start before committing to a rebuild.

Fluid level is good. The fluid is still red, although it is darker than new fluid but not bad enough that it would be causing that problem I wouldn’t think.

Can you explain what you mean by "slip a bit during a pull"?

These transmissions do not usually slip or flare after a gear is engaged, only during shifts. Make sure fluid level is near MAX when hot, checked with engine idling.
