Good Day, Albert Here...Quick question:When cold car starts without hesitation. let car idle till its warm and the warmer it gets the rougher it idles. (misses terribly) almost like cylinder by cylinder is shutting down. give it gas and above idle its smooth. Turn it off while hot and it will not restart. ONLY Back Fires Terribly!!!Let it cool all the way back down and it fires right up. New TB/ MAF. Rot/Caps. Have not checked plugs but they havent been messed with and I know an engine will behave like this if it has hair line cracked plugs. OE Coils. What are your thoughts

Re: 500E Engine woes

The usual check distributor caps and insulator cups. But I'd wager there's a vaccum leak or a bad o2 sensor on your car.

Agree with all of the above.
My 92 was doing this exact same thing, changed the caps and rotors and was still doing it.
Everyone has to take gsxr's expert advice, which he has stated many times when this comes up, and change the insulators. They may look OK while sitting in the car, but they are 99.5% the issue. As soon as I did mine the problem disappeared.

This happened to me over Christmas after 8 weeks off. It stopped after the third day, but I bought all of the bits needed for replacement when the time comes.
