I’m curious if anyone has experience with running this size wheel? Any rubbing or clearance issues?

I was planning on running 235/45/17 tires per AMG documents

thanks

@kegmankipp,

That 42et seems wrong to me. I had an 86-300E that I lowered w/ Eibach Springs rolling on 17” Aftermarket Becker Monoblocks w/225-17s that barely fit. The car rode hard. I switched to 215-50 tires to help the ride and I only lost about 1/2” in tire width. The car rode better but had slite rub on fronts at speed (say 70mph) when hitting a dip on the freeway.

I don’t remember the et on those rims (maybe 35) but I’m sure it was not 42. I believe that is an S-Class et.

If I were you I would make sure they will work on a 400E420 before buying tires if possible.

I spent a lot of $$$ trying to get my 300E right. It can get expensive if you make a mistake.

This is 17x8 et35 with 225/45. The lighting is admittedly not great and car is on H&R springs.

Thanks, do you have any rubbing issues? Did you install the AMG fender spacer kit on the front fenders and/or roll the lips?

I have a shop that is making a set of Aero 3 three piece wheels for me and has 7” barrels with 1” lips on low rise centers and the ET came out to 42, we were shooting for 37.

They could make them with 6.5” barrels and 1.5” lips for ET30 which was a stock size but lots of fender folding and rolling. 😬
