Apply any lubricant on the swaybar bushings?

Hi.

I am replacing the front swaybar bushings on the Limited now. The swaybar is worn in the area where the bushes are, and the surface is very rough and a bit rusty. I sanded the surface and applied some kind of strong coating. However, this will be worn off after a certain time and eat the new bushings faster. So what about using some kind of grease/lubrication inside the bushings?

The current OE bushings have a Teflon impregnated liner which should not have any additional lubricant. I would not add any lube unless you have aftermarket bushings which are plain rubber inside.

Thanks for the advice, Dave.

I have the OE bushings and you're right about the liner inside, but the liner appeared so dry. But I better leave it as is then, adding a non-compatible lubricant may counteract the Teflon and embrittle the liner over time too.

I've got a big ol jug of the MB slide/bushing lubricant, it does make putting everything together just that much easier...:)
