After my automatic tranny died befor x-mas, so I decided to go a step forwar to my dream 500 E despide my 280 SE 3.5 Coupe project is not finished all.
I took the tranny out and wrecked the tranny to create my bellhousing for a Getrag 265 5-speed conversion (I have 3 getrag for other conversions). As the getrag intake driveshaft is a little longer it is possible to make a distance plate which is centered in the original hole of the automatic driveshaft. I have a BMW Alpina B7 Clutch (ofer 600 NM), it base on a Sachs MF 240 Clutch. The throwout bearing is hydraulic from a litte italian truck (Turbo daily) and fits perfekt. Flywheel is similar to the one we have seen times ago on 500ecstasy (supra R154 M119 conversionwith 722.6 bellhousing), with the trigger-starter gear plate bolt on and similar featuers to an M116 flywheel (but smaller). As all is 3.5 cm shorter at the rear is an distance plate from the 3 propeller to the 4 bolt Hardy of the 500 E. The parts are in the CNC shop and are ready next week (i hope). The Pedals are from a E200. The shifter is the BMW-one modified. The rear tranny mount is from the 722.3 with an welded steel support. The pilot bearing is 35.5-12 which is strange (normal 36-12) and costs 26 Euro!
The electric issue, as I planed:
-The tach signal goes on the 4 bolts from the hardy (4-sensor-trigger points in the tranny)
-The start-stop sensor is not used and the violette and violett-white wires comes together (as to start)
-The rear light sensor is on the Getrag (BMW.prt)
Now the harder parts: the overload sensor, first I thought to let it connected and bind up at some part, but I read the last night that W140 M120 overload sensors (two, but the same) have normaly 1KOHm and this point me to the idea that I could remove the sensor and substitute it with an resistor? Could this be right? He should be in the basic function what means that he is out of function. It is right that arrives 5V normaly there and returns after the resistance of 1KOhm?
-The tranny position sensor (NRD...), I thougth to left it in the position D, as I read sometimes ago in the N position the overload sensor is not in function (good) but the idle sensor is not functioning too? Is this wright? So In D with the resistance on the overload sensor the car should function as normal, as the LH-jetronik couldn't se any difference on the functions (I think HMV is more complex).
As I know that hear are several W124036 veterans on board wich had more knowledge of the Lh-jetronik, I wonder If anyone has some input for me.
Best pagodino
P.S : as my friend for personal preblems builts only a prototype of the carbon-aramid bellhousing and haven't made the negativ form I deceded to co this way. First I ordered a M119 manual conversion Kit in Estonia, the guy was competent but I think He has several problems with the delivery (the CNC guys don't made the parts), so after 6 weeks I go my way!
