    Welcome to the 500Eboard forum.

Since its founding in late 2008, 500Eboard has become the leading resource on the Internet for all things related to the Mercedes-Benz 500E and E500. In recent years, we have also expanded to include the 400E and E420 models, which are directly related to the 500E/E500.

We invite you to browse and take advantage of the information and resources here on the site. If you find helpful information, please register for full membership, and you'll find even more resources available. Feel free to ask questions, and make liberal use of the "Search" function to find answers.

Back in an M119

Unfortunately not a 500E, but an R129 SL500. I loved my M119 powered 97 E420 which served me very well for over 10 years and 150k miles, until I got into a wreck last year and the car caught fire.

Since then, I've been looking for an M119 powered SL500, preferably a 96-98 as they had the M119 motor, plus OBDC, no wiring harness issues, 722.6 and the updated climate control system.

This 98 model showed up a few months ago at a CA salvage auction, but it took some time to bring up for sale. It's the right color, It doesn't look too badly hurt and the miles are low so I bought it.

Now I need to learn a new model, at least it's not a Jaguar :)

Well Ali, except for the differences that you already noted, that is about as much of a 500E as one can buy outside of a 124 chassis, that's for sure. Isn't it amazing how little it takes to total a relatively nice car these days? Something for all of us that take our older cars out on the road to be concerned about. I know that I have not necessarily taken as much care on that front as I should. I haven't looked yet, but I'm betting that some E5Eboard members have some information, experience, opinions on insuring our older cars? The conflicting information from those in the insurance business is almost overwhelming...

Best of luck with it Ali.

Gentlemen, thank you. I'm going to put car on the transport rate board tomorrow first thing. LA to Dallas is a busy route so hopefully, it will get picked up before the weekend.
