Better Shifting After Cap/Rotor Replacement??

Our 1995 E420 shifts differently every time I drive it. That is, the delay between first and second gear is always different. Sometimes the delay is long and sometimes it is normal. It doesn't matter how warm the engine is.

I recently replaced both caps and rotors. The car has shifted like a NEW CAR ever since. What is that all about? I suppose I could have disturbed something but what?

Or does it maybe have to do with the way CAN talks to everything all the time? I have new plugs on the agenda and wonder what change they might bring??

Welcome any feedback on this (happy) change.
