Bluetooth to RJ11 adapter

Hey guys,
I was thinking of a way of adding bluetooth to my car by using the car's built in phone system.
There are several RJ11 to bluetooth adapters out there that are used to turn house lines to cell phone connected via bluetooth, requiring you to simply disconnect the outside landline connection.
Might such an approach work with the w124?
Any suggestions, comments, or approaches to doing this would be helpful.

In theory, yes, you could do something like that... assuming you can locate the other end of the cable(s) and convert them to your intended purposes. However, the jack in the flip-top armrest is not RJ11. I think it may be RJ45 but I'm not sure. I'm also not exactly sure where the other end goes.

:shocking:

Seems like a great deal of complication to add BT capability. Have you looked into off the shelf solutions? If you add aux-in to your factory radio you can use any number of BT devices. There is also a product from GROM audio (http://gromaudio.com/store/usb_adap...uetooth_adapter_direct_digital_interface.html) that plugs into a 1492 (none for the 1432 though).

I have one of these in the high miler: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FRU5UNA...olid=GXY1IHOVABIB&coliid=I2GLK32Z1ZL6IE&psc=1
Note, this will work with aux-in OR through the antenna so would work on a 1432.

I was interested in using the RJ45 (?) jack in the armrest to enable placing an iPod or similar MP3 player using all factory wiring. Not sure how practical this would be, or if the signal wires would pick up noise along the way...

Should be worth a try. The cable should have been placed from factory in such a way to minimize noise. Personally I would even try to send power to charge/power the ipod/mp3 player in the cable. Factory cable has enough wires to do that. And just make a male rj45 plug with a 3.5mm minijack and a female usb.

Exactly what I was thinking!!!

Forgot to say that you have to get 5volts in the USB not 12volts. I would mount the stepdown in the dash and adjust to when i mesure 5volts in the usb, not 5volts on the exits on the board. And dont forget a correct size fuse.

Have used this before and it works perfect. I always have one or two laying around in the garage. You never know.
