Brabus 6.0 32V

A Brabus 6.0 W210 is at auction in Japan later today. I am considering buying it for parts only, mainly the engine and Brabus parts.

What is the approximate value of the complete engine swap? I tried searching but apparently these motors do not come up for sale too often.

Thanks

Kinda depends... what is your intended use of the Brabus 119.98x motor? It needs quite a bit of modification to work in a 124 chassis, but it would swap into another 210 without too much hassle. The computers won't swap into another W210 thanks to the stupid DAS (engine security) system so that will be another problem. If converted for use in a 124 you'll be on the hunt for a 6.0 LH module like Bondavi. Assuming it's a good motor with no problems, somewhere under $10k to your door would be a ballpark value? It would cost roughly $10-$15k to build a fresh motor, assuming you can do some of the work yourself.

Any idea what it might sell for? Does it have a reserve? Opening bid? Etc...

:apl:

Thanks gsxr. I am having someone go down to the auction later and taking a good look at it. Not many details are listed, but I am still waiting for a translation of the auction sheet. It's hard to say what it will sell for, depends on the interest. There is no starting bid, but probably a reserve. I'm going to try and get it for under $5,000.

I saw that car this morning, it looks as if it's in rough shape
It has definitely seen better days

If you could get it for under $5k, I'd grab it. What would it cost total after shipping to Canada, customs duties/fees, etc etc?

Hello Silver

Be aware that if you have to request Brabus for needed information you may not get any answer, simply due to their business philosophy. That was recently done on a broken Brabus 3.4 engine her in Norway, in an attempt to order the parts for a repair, and also to get more info about the car which was originally modified by Brabus. But they didn't give any information at all, so the engine, or the car, had to be handed in to them for repair. (the car was parted out in this case).

I am hoping that I can get the car for 300k yen or less. Then I pay my exporter his fee of 80k yen. Shipping is right around $1300CAD, 6.1% duty and 5% tax(on the price of the car), A/C tax of $120. I pay a broker $600 to deal with customs and the paperwork and inland transportation to get it to me, that's another $1000.

Thanks for that information!! I will make my decision based on a 3rd parties visual inspection. He will be able to start it but not drive it. I'm not interested in it as a whole car, just parts.

Sounds like a good plan. If you can get someone to inspect in person, start the car, look under the hood, etc... that's awesome.

I ran into the same problem with Brabus, they are not very helpful when you try to get information from them.

Turns out it is a flood damaged car. Electrical system is fried along with a long list of other issues.

Thanks for the info guys!

Shame. It would still be worth it for the engine, but the rest of the car likely would end up getting scrapped.

Without being able to start it and hear it running I am not about to take that gamble. Especially after I was told about the ammount of rust and corrosion in the engine bay and on the chassis. Who knows the extent of the damage.

Joe or Silverstar, could you upload some photos of this car for posterity...? I thought I had a couple via email but can't seem to locate them.

:(

found them
