CD Changer - Door stuck closed

I have my car in storage all winter and each week I start it up and let it run for ~20 mins to get up to temperature.
Today for no good reason, I looked in the trunk and was checking the CD holder/player and tried to open the CD door (picture enclosed) by sliding the door to the right as indicated on the CD door.
The door is stuck closed - it will not move to open position. I pushed it pretty hard, up to the point where I knew if I put any more pressure on it, it would break the plastic door or something else.
When the car is powered on it says there are no CD's in the CD, but I thought there was one in there last I looked, but I am not sure.
I tried opening the CD door with radio on, then again with radio on and "CD" button pressed (vs FM), I tried with radio off and car off. The door is stuck and simply will not move.

Any idea what the problem may be. I don't really use the Cd but I like to keep everything 100% right in my cars.

Does anyone know if there is a way to remove the "open / close" plastic door from the CD without breaking anything.
I read somewhere last night that it could be the CD cassette jammed up against the door that is preventing it from opening. Having said that I am not sure if the CD cassette on this model is actually a removable cassette where the whole cassette actually pops out or a fixed on that you can not remove and you just open each individual tray?
Does anyone know:
a. a way to remove the plastic sliding door without breaking it?
b. does the CD player on the '94 W124's have a cassette that pops out as a whole or is it just 6 fixed individual trays?
