Difference between BE1492 & BE1692?

I picked up a BE1692 today in nice condition. Visually it's identical to the Becker and Alpine-made 1492s that came stock in the 1994 E500s. This one came out of a 1996 W210.

I know it's plug-compatible and all that, but does anyone know what the differences are between the 1492 & 1692?

Did you ever get a confirmation on this, Gerry? I would like to replace my BE1492 with a newer BE1692 in my '95E320. Thank you!
