First gear start module

Is anybody still offering first gear start modules for 500e? I am trying to locate one. I have read on this thread about a company named bergwerks. Really trying to get more of that down low grunt in the city. Thanks

BergWerks has been out of business for many years. If you want FGS, I would recommend getting a FGS valvebody instead, they are usually available in the $200-$400 range, and can be installed at your next transmission fluid/filter service.

As a Band-Aid fix in the short term, when you are at a stop light/sign, move the shift lever to position "B" for about one second, then move it back to "D". The car will start in 1st gear for that takeoff. You'll have to repeat at every stop if desired. Or, just put your foot about 2/3 of the way into the throttle (from a stop) and it will automatically drop to 1st gear on takeoff. The FGS VB just makes it happen all the time and without having to stomp on the pedal.

Sounds like you've just taken recent ownership. Don't jump in too fast too hard all at once. You may need to invest in more important fundamental components. Make sure the vehicle is first operating as it should before immediately purchasing & installing a FGS. As previously mentioned, use the "B" shift in the meantime. It may be good enough for the time being.

But if you really want one, post your request in the WTB thread or check the For Sale thread. There's usually a few available.

Let us know what hemisphere you reside in, also. A Selling member may be relatively close by.
