What is the price for front section with bolt-in catalysts, in addition to the test pipes? Would there be a price difference for 49-state cats vs 50-state?

The front sections come with test pipes, the catalysts are built to order let me verify current pricing.

CA cats are more expensive let me verify 2017 cat prices.

The cats are 600CPI units we run two in parallel format to optimize volume.

What does the rear section consist of? I have a y pipe. I would be interested in a muffler?

It comes with its own Y pipe which guarantees that the rear muffler hangs correctly.

The exhaust looks promising, are there any Dyno results? What is the smallest Diameter the tubing gets and the exhaust looks crush-bent is that correct?

Unfortunately no dyno results yet.

I had a few volunteers from the previous bunch to dyno their car but no results yet.

The pipe is 3" they are mandrel bent the crush section is about 1/16" indented to clear the subframe. It does not restrict flow in any way since it's done in a straight section.

The choice was to hang the pipe low under the subframe or tuck it nice and tight to the body to prevent the exhaust from snagging or possibly scraping on a lowered 500e.

The front section is a 2.25" y pipe and joins to a 3" oval bent pipe.

The cat section splits into dual 2.25" sections.

Just trying to make sure I understand the pricing. For complete system front, back and Cats would $3,586. Is that correct?

FWIW... the factory pipes are a similar design, some straight sections have an indentation for clearance... the crossover pipe from the driver side exhaust manifold is really crushed (need to remove heat shield to see this), and the stock muffler inlet pipe also has a flattened area for subframe clearance in the same area as the Leistung.

Side note on dyno testing: After getting good dyno data with the stock exhaust, the car should have the LH adaptation reset and then be driven for several hundred miles with the new Leistung system to allow adaptation with the modified exhaust flow... THEN put on the dyno for the 'after' testing. And, no other changes should be made besides the exhaust swap...

:pc1:

I'd be happy to be a test rat and pre and post dyno my car after install. I have a local closed cell dyno that if I go to just a few days apart on days with similar weather and temps should give a nice baseline/gain reading. I just need to get my car first....hopefully should be here by Wednesday.

The construction and quality looks great, and as nice as the Brabus style tips look, it would look even better if we had a cutout for the tips in the rear valence. I think I will probably go with the turned down tips instead.

Any sound clips available?

Are there any other options out there ?
Fox Germany offers cat-back systems. Photos and details are in JC220's owner thread:

http://www.500eboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9507

Scroll through his thread between post #'s 395 and 425 for additional info on pricing and vendors.

Should be under ~$1000 USD with shipping to USA but you'd have to contact the vendor in Europe to inquire about shipping to this side of the pond.

:e500launch:

Fox exhaust quality is questionable. The SS canisters I have used them on other projects one being a 01 Audi s4. After 40k miles the exhaust packing started to fall apart and developed a loud rattle internally.

They are defiantly not Remus or Sebring quality status.

You can think of them as the flowmaster of Germany.

Btw the S4 had bigger turbos and 700ish HP. So the mufflers were probably not intended for that much power.

Exhaust was later swapped for a milltek.

JC, just to clarify... does the rear section (2 pipes + muffler) connect to both the stock catalyst/front pipe, and also your custom Leistung front pipe?

:buggin:

:buggin:

Yes you are correct.

The resonator delete pipe is universal. It will bolt up to the factory catalyst or my version.

So it's not necessary to buy the front section unless the existing unit is in bad condition.

A note to those who are sitting on the fence regarding purchase of these exhausts:

In recent days, I've received two informal, unsolicited and independently sourced reports from previous purchasers of these 5SR exhaust systems, that they are clearly exceeding the "gray trunk and door switches" in terms of overall attractiveness and 'enhancement ability' to members of the opposite sex.

:bowrofl:

Hi!

Would it be possible to purchase just the California catalyst ---- to replace my existing OE catalyst? (The heat shields are rotting away).

Hi!

It's not possible.

Because the catalyst will not bolt onto the factory Y section. I will only offer the catalyst to customers who have purchased the full front section.

The factory part is one long piece if you need the catalyst your choices are...

1. Buy a new OEM unit
2. Buy my full front section with catalyst
3. Have a muffler shop hack a set of cats in place of the OE units.

My catalysts have a proprietary flange which are custom made specifically for the front section. This is a laser cut flange designed to center the catalyst for customers who use the front section with a factory resonator.

Flanges are not available as a stand alone part.

Yo 5SR .....

Couple of questions:

1) Are you planning another production run of the systems (both factory style and Brabus)? I can guarantee that in the next year or so, there is going to be significant demand among folks here (probably new owners) for your exhaust kits.

2) Do you still have the front section + cat kits available? What's your stock level on those?

When I get my kit, I'm going to try my level best to dyno test things with my previous cat-back system I've been running since 2004 (a Walker DynoMax system) and then the 5SR Brabus system. Unfortunately it won't be a great comparison because my existing system is not stock, but I'd still be interested to see any differences for shits and giggles against what I have. If your system dynos out at +10 HP or more than I have, then I will send you (via Jeff Wong) two bottles of the champagne of your choice (up to and including Dom Perignon). :)

Cheers,
Gerry

1) Yes we can always do another run if there are enough supporters, given that the E500E is such a limited production car the demand is very low. Aslong as we own the jigs these exhausts kits can always be produced.

2) whats left are the following
1 Front section with 50 state legal cat and a test pipe
2 Front sections with Test pipes

Yo 5SR,

Can you kindly provide the board with an update on current stock/availability of the front and rear sections? Sold out?

Front sections still the same availability.

I have two rear turndown kits available left.

Possibly 1 brabus kit might be available by next week waiting on final confirmation.

If you've been sittin' on the fence for a 5SR kit, now's the time to score one....or stockpile one for the future.....

Thx for the update 5SR !!
