I found a set of front shock absorbers on Ebay. The listing says they are
for the 500E. Part number is 1243205730. Is this correct? I've been
told earlier that the part number should be 124-320-43-30 up to
chassis no. B712318 and 124-320-50-30 after that.
1243205730 was the old / original part number, which I believe included the bolts/hardware. It was superceded to 1243204330 which does not included the bolts/hardware.
These numbers are both for early 500E's with the M12 pinch bolt. Break point should be up to B712318 (M12) / as of B712319 (M14).
Later 500E's use an M14 pinch bolt, old p/n 1243207130 which rolls to the 124-320-50-30 which Louis referenced above.
I did yes, one on top that I bought, then below i copied Naperville logo and jazz beneath it to show what engine number they listed for the eBay p/n op posted
Could you confirm when you bought those front shocks? A friend of mine here in the UK (his is a '92 500E) recently tried to source some front shocks via his local MB supplier, and was told they are NLA! He was informed that if a sufficient number of people request them, a "batch" might be produced.
Early ones have M12 bolt hole, late have M14 bolt hole. Otherwise they are intechangeable (ideally the early would remain available, to be drilled out to M14 as needed.)
Which p/n is supposedly NLA? MB Classic still shows both as available, but maybe the website hasn't been updated yet:
