Hey guys,

I am looking for a sending unit for the big 90 Liter tank. The part number is A124 542 03 04

In new or in used and working condition!

The part is not for me, but for a very good friend of mine (with two W124s, but no V8 so far). He is living in CA and now is in need of a sending unit.

If you can help with that, please let me know!

Yup... try to repair your existing one first, since the 90L yellow-top senders are NLA.

EDIT: Photos attached.

Hey @JC220 and @gsxr,
my bad!

It was already cleaned (like in your article), but without longtime success.
The fuel gauge is fine too. If he uses an potentiometer instead of the sending unit, the gauge shows a good value and does not jump around.

Since it is NLA from MB, he is searching for an used or an NOS sending unit.

Thanks a lot for the informations! (y)
see other post...

I repaired mine. The base plate had cracked in several pieces. So I had to braze the brass together. Then replace the resistor wires that had kinked and broken.

The small brass base plate broke. I believe it was from stress of the tank collapse. It curled the edge of the Sender tube.
so plate breaks and the plastic base then springs up against the tension of the wires. Wires get kinked and breaks...

I just had mine replaced last year (I think) about this same time. I heard no mention of NLA. I'll check my records.

maw

PS. Part number was 124-542-0304 and it cost around $180... that was Apr2020... God is good, I was just looking for stuff my guys could do during shutdown to help keep them afloat.
