And, exactly how the hell do you know parts people wouldn't prefer an organic, gluten-free kale salad to your pizzas, yet you keep stuffing then with pizzas, year after year? 😄

When it's free food many of these requirements often go out the window. Same thing when I take a couple boxes of donuts in if I have to pick up a VOR (overnight) order. Worst case, if they don't want to partake they still appreciate the effort and recognition. On the rare occasion one of the two guys that manage my account aren't there, I'll often get, "Hey, you're that guy that brings us pizza, aren't you?" They don't have to know my name to be helpful...

The way you write, in place of GM, I'd read your letters to the whole dealership every time you wrote! 😀

It's a blessing and a curse, believe me.

Dan

In California and Oregon, it also must be "farm to table" and locally grown within 5 miles of where you live, or it is unacceptable.

Spoke to Bob at MBOEMParts today. I had ordered some parts to refurb the sunroof about 5 weeks ago. He told me that a few parts were NLA, but the order was ready to ship. As a token for my patience, and continued business, he offered to send the felt pads he did have, at no cost to me.

Has anyone had any luck ordering from Naperville lately? It seems like all online orders are being cancelled until further notice.

We are unable to process your order due to supply chain issues and limited staffing as a result of the coronavirus. We have cancelled your order and are returning your payment. We hope to have all of our distribution centers back on line and at full staff when this pandemic is over.

News to me. It has been a few weeks since I ordered but I will have a call to Bob in the morning and post the results.

My last order from MB Annapolis (no parts had to come from Germany): order Monday morning, pick up Wednesday morning.

Sorry I forgot to call. I did place a small order for parts having to come from Germany. That was the next morning. They shipped today and I will have it Tuesday. Two hvac drains and their attachments straps. As Gerry says, deep parts stash. No issues like you encountered with ordering.

I picked up my parts order yesterday on the way to the hospital to get some blood tests done. I had placed my order on Tuesday morning, and the parts were ready for pickup on Thursday.

Eddie, who is in charge of the parts department at MB Annapolis, mentioned that he had sold TWO sets of the W126 UCAs in recent days -- one set to me, and another set that he shipped to someone in Texas. He was scratching his head, having sold two sets of the same, rarely purchased, relatively esoteric part, within just a few days of one another.

I mentioned that this was likely another member of my forum, which had some information about MB lowering the prices on these UCAs from their formerly sky-high prices in recent years. He was happy to have the business. And yes, MB Annapolis doesn't charge sales tax to out-of-state orders. They do charge shipping, but I think if you put a note in to Eddie at the time that you make your order, he will reduce the price from the standard quoted RevParts shipping price, to a more "actual" price.

I won’t consider using them anymore until they get fully back up and running. MB Annapolis has been running very smoothly for me, with the added bonus of having a local throat to choke of ever needed.

I put the part #'s on amazon and they came up for a little more than mboemparts.com pricing but included free shipping. All genuine items. I guess some dealers are on the amazon marketplace also.

FYI, I ordered from MB of Scottsdale on Sunday. The order shipped out today. So they are apparently open for business. I hate to get hit with shipping and state tax, but it's a relatively small price to pay to get it in a few days, rather than be left in limbo with little or no communication.

Parts in the US warehouses are generally received in two business days from date of order (i.e. I place an order on Monday; pick up parts on Wednesday). Parts from Germany are usually within 7 days (typically order on Monday; pick up on Friday).

Shipping would be the same date that parts are received, plus a couple of days' transit time via FedEx.

MB Annapolis lists some parts at a 28+% discount; other parts are a 40% discount.

Jon, you may want to talk to them (or any other dealer) to find out their normal process for shipping. Drop-shipping via FedEx from warehouses is not the norm, neither is shipping FedEx 2/3-day. The online dealers typically put these parts on their normal orders, may take a week to arrive, then get shipped out via standard ground (5-7 days transit).

Just a foot note to Gerry's comment--2 biz day delivery from MB warehouse. That is if the part is in your dealers default warehouse. For Gerry and me (upstate NY) our dealers default warehouse is in NJ. If for example the part was not in Jersey but in say the CA or FL warehouse you have to add a couple more days. When placing an order you can ask the parts guy which warehouse the part is coming from.

By the way Gerry I typically get my parts the next biz day ( assuming they're sitting in NJ). Our dealer uses a private courier service that leaves Jersey after midnight 6 days a week. Parts are left in a secure area at the dealer in the wee hours of the morning. If I order by 2 PM I can pick up next day in the morning. Usually next day delivery is only for cars in the shop but the parts guys do it for me and I'm sure other regular customers.

Maybe your dealer has similar arrangements.

Regards,

Peter Weissman

That's not necessarily true. I placed an order on Monday morning. It came from three warehouses (including NJ, but also Fontana CA and Florida). I picked up the order yesterday morning.

MB Annapolis always tells me which locations the parts I order come from, and they do set expectations that other warehouses may take more time (and they say that anything from Germany is 7-10 days).

I have yet to see anything from a US warehouse take more than 3 days, and anything from Germany take more than 5 days.

I believe that MB Annapolis gets all parts ordered, then packs and ships them directly from the dealership. I have had a few cases where parts have been drop-shipped directly from MB parts warehouses, but this is not the norm, at least with MB Annapolis.

I know that back in the parts.com days, when MB Naperville was fulfilling the orders for parts.com, most all parts would be drop-shipped from MB warehouses, unless MB Naperville had the part in its own dealer stock, where they would ship it from that dealership. It seems that they changed their policy when they adopted the RevParts platform, and now MB Naperville typically collects all parts in an order, and then ships them to the customer (similarly to MB Annapolis).

I think realistically, with MB Annapolis, an out of state order placed on a Monday, from US warehouses, would be received in ~5-7 business days, or less.

I just placed a parts order to MB Annapolis for around $200, about 30 minutes ago.

As I typed the above reply, this email came in:

I expect that because of the July 4 holiday, I'll probably be picking this order up either on Monday or more likely on Tuesday morning.

FYI, regarding my above-order for cabin filters and cabin blower motor, I received the cabin filters directly from Scottsdale, but the blower motor was drop-shipped from Carol Stream to my house and should get here on Monday. Is there a warehouse in Carol Stream?

There are MB depots in Carol Stream, IL, Fontana, CA, Jacksonville, FL, Fort Worth, TX and Robbinsville, NJ.

Paragon will always direct the shipment from the closest warehouse to the dealership unless it's being drop shipped. Drop shipping is at the direction of the ordering dealer, that is, they can have it come into their facility as a stock order and ship it themselves or have it drop shipped to the end customer. I don't know if they are charged an additional amount for the drop shipping from the depot.

I've had the same experience as many of you with MBOEMParts lately. Multiple orders of mine have been canceled since April. On one order, I called ahead of time and Bob agreed not to cancel it if I was ok with waiting, and my order shipped out a week later. This morning I attempted to place a nearly $300 order with them and it was promptly canceled.

Knowing Bob is busy and seeing that some people are waiting weeks for their parts, I opted not to call and decided to try out MB Direct Parts/Husker. Their prices were lower than MBOEMParts and shipping was less than what MBOEMParts's 50% off shipping price was. The only issue was one part was not available and they wanted to know if I wanted to cancel the whole order or remove just that part. I told them just remove the one part. We'll see how this goes!

I placed a $500 order with GVZ Mercedes in Annapolis last Thursday. They said it will be a few days before the parts arrive from other warehouses, then they will box, process and ship when they get them. Looking forward to saving AZ sales tax.

I wanted to update this thread per MB of Annapolis. I went down to pick up an order today and spent a few minutes with Eddie Alexander, head of the parts and who takes care of the Internet orders placed there.

He mentioned that he has received SEVERAL orders over the past few days through referrals from this site, and is appreciative of the business.

I talked to him about the exhorbitant shipping costs, as quoted by their RevParts site shipping calculator. He immediately said that their shipping costs are NOWHERE NEAR that high -- generally only about ONE-HALF the RevParts price quoted. The reason for the discrepancy is that the RevParts site uses the UPS shipping calculator as its default, but all MB dealerships nationwide actually ship via FedEx. And MBUSA has a GREAT contract rate with FedEx (which we already knew), and the shipping costs are MUCH less than RevParts quotes via UPS.

So, again, count on general shipping costs about ONE HALF of what the MB Annapolis RevParts site quotes (www.getmercedesparts.com). NO sales tax for out of state orders. And prices among the very best out there. Generally, orders are compiled at the dealer before being shipped out -- they are NOT typically drop-shipped from MB parts warehouses.

MB Annapolis puts a "hold" charge on orders received, on the credit card, but DOES NOT CHARGE THE CARD until the order is received and shipped. This allows for the downward adjustment on shipping cost, removal of sales tax, etc. So, if you place a $500 order, you may get charged $150 shipping for it, for a total pending charge on the card of $650. But, the actual charge will be much lower than that.

did you receive your order?

Just an update from my experience. I placed an order last Wednesday, it was delivered Friday. Bob is breaking in 2 additional online parts people.

a note - to the above, this is Naperville ordering listed.

The parts just arrived today. Needless to say, I won't be able to use Annapolis in the future since 14 days is just too long to wait and this wasn't a case of having to get them from Germany -- They were both available on the east coast. Not sure what happened here or why it took them almost two weeks to ship them out.

What is going on with shipping prices from MB Annapolis? Quoting me $25 to ship an idler pulley and belt with 12-14 day delivery time?

Does the shipping price get adjusted once they ship it? Or was I just spoiled from Naperville?

Did you read post #333 in this thread, which talks about exactly that?

It's not just Annapolis. It's every dealer that uses the RevolutionParts eCommerce platform - nearly all of them, nationwide. Their ship calculators are seriously stoopid. I believe both Husker and Annapolis will adjust ship costs before charging your credit card. Dunno about others.

Any dealer that would offer free shipping - even conditional, on orders over $xxx - would likely get a significant amount of bizness from the forum.

I have been ordering parts from my dealer back in Des Moines. Chris is the parts manager and offers a 30% discount and a flat rate of 17.50 for shipping. I miss being close to the dealership, especially in light of the terrible service here in Tallahassee.

Wow. Do they have a website?

:wahoo:

No not a dedicated site for parts. I just call or email him with my requests, he sends me the parts diagram to confirm and that's it. Really upstanding guy who has been there 20+ years.

I can send you his contact information if interested.

Yes, can you share please? Thank you.

Well, swing and a miss by Annapolis on shipping costs. 10" box that weighed less than 2 pounds. Box was shipped 200 miles. $24.

Everything else was great, but shipping cost was probably 50% too high.

This is the problem with most all RevParts dealers. Especially if they are trying to make some extra $$ on shipping.

:runexe:

Try to work out a deal with your local dealer (if they have a rev parts site) for local pick up / no shipping but internet prices.
