GROUP BUY: Stabilus Damper/Struts for Center Console Lid (Armrest Shock Replacement)

IMHO all of this is a MAJOR fail on the part of MB Naperville. I would call management there and bitterly complain. You were charged, and product was NOT delivered, while you were strung along with BS.

I will not order from them again, and instead will pay the similar prices + 6% sales tax with no shipping from my local "stealer" - MB of Annapolis, aka www.getmercedesparts.com

Just curious. Did Naperville ever resolve the apparent FedEx delivery issue?

Not sure I can fully explain here, but immediately following the phone call a few weeks ago, where I was told that they had shipped and were showing as ‘delivered’, I received a ‘shipment notification’ email from Naperville with the tracking number for the shipment. I was puzzled by this (as I had not previously received any shipment notification from either Naperville OR FedEx regarding this order), until I realized that the tracking number that was provided was actually associated with a DIFFERENT order I had placed through Naperville and had been successfully delivered! At this point I have no idea if this is all a result of MB system issues, or some other incompetence.

Since I made that discovery I have not been able to get a hold of Renee directly, as per my previous posts.

I really couldn’t make this up if I tried. Sorry about all this guys.

Indeed. I have been fairly understanding up to this point, but its moving from ‘nuts’ to ‘ludicrous’ quite quickly. (Or slowly i guess, given the lack of response from Naperville)

Looks like customer service has taken a nose drive recently. Probably switch to Gainesville going forward.

Tip - I've noticed that when I call around 11am-12pm pacific time, I am always able to get Renee on the phone after holding a few minutes on the "general line". If you need to call to resolve the matter, you may wish to call at that time.

I feel bad enough to hoard so many straps ..... okay maybe not THAT much. :agree:
 
Hmm. I don’t think any w124 ones. Otherwise they might be a little bit easier to source.

Just picked up a 94 E 320 wagon and the lid is a bit tired.

Indeed. That is about the time I have been calling, and there has not been an issue with getting either of them on the phone. The issue has been their lack of follow through. Over the last two months, only one of the many promises has been at least partially been seen through. Renee sent me a partial strap shipment last Monday, with a promise to ‘get back to me’ with the status of the remaining ones. Its the next Tuesday and I have not heard back.

For those still waiting, I am going to ring her again tomorrow. Pending her reply, I’ll start distribution of the partial strap orders, in the order in which they were received.

Olec, sorry, but has been mentioned before, the group buy is closed. You’ll have to convince someone with extras to part with them. Captruff and gsxr both ordered a large quantity. You may want to contact them.

Ah, Ok, got it. Do you think that they are aware of the magnitude of the clusterf? Have they at least been massively apologetic?

You need to call the dealership, speak to management, explain the situation, and either get a refund or get the order fulfilled. I would stop waiting and messing around. Speak to the GM of the dealership.
 
But I enjoy this messing around so so so much!!!

Spoke with Renee, who promised that the additional straps will be there Friday, and will ship to me. I told her to call me when this happens. If it does not, I told her I will be reversing the credit card charge and moving on.

I'll then place an order for the remaining with another vendor.
 
Surprise Surprise. No call from Renee yesterday. Charge reversed on my credit card today. I'm going to have a hard time ordering from them ever again.

Remaining straps ordered from mbpartspros.com. Will hopefully be here within the week.

I would PM some of the people listed in the table on the first post. You will see that there are members who bought more struts than needed to get the group to a larger quantity and reduce the cost/item.

The straps are still available from MB.

I guess I'm too late to buy one of the Stabilus dampers. Does anyone know if the plastic trim cover (#62) for the mount is still available ?

I'm sure that Triple Trouble or one of our forum's budding parts hoarders will have an extra that he/they would part with. Probably just need to put a WTB post out there requesting a strut.

I believe those trims 62 are all NLA now. But do check based on your VIN for interior colour code. Note that these are always best left loose and still around the armrest bar rather than trying to remove. Due to plastic aging trying to remove them now results in them breaking in 2 no matter how careful in my experience.

I managed to buy one from Naperville and I'll have to paint it black. That's not too bad.
 
When did you buy it? I thought all colors were NLA for a while now.

Last Monday, I managed to purchase beige colour ones from Naperville. Part number 124 973 03 89 8316. They also have a few others numbers (colours) show up on the website page although that does not mean they are available.
 
Well so far so good. I just received confirmation and tracking info for my order which is as inputed by Bob on day of order. My PayPal account confirms the same. I will know for sure when the parcel arrives.
Ooops. I just realized something... color code (suffix) -8316 will be Brown / Brazil color. You may receive one of those, as it was the last color still available - rumor was they were all gone, but maybe some Brazilians re-appeared. You'll need to spray paint / dye it to match your car.

Cream-beige would be -8412, Parchment would be -8F30, both are NLA.
