Any suggestions on replacing? Anyone have a good example for sale? Mine has the whit pitting on the black areas. Everything works just want to freshen up. Thank you.

If you just need a new housing, a cluster from any late 124 will work, then swap in your E500E gauge trio.

If the gauge faces are pitted... that's a different story.

I did this last weekend. I also had a little bit of "dandruff". Not much but it was nice to swap it out. While you are taking the cluster out also consider whether you want to put in new bulbs or do an LED conversion. I also changed my potentiometer because mine was kind of twitchy. Removing the cluster is pretty easy if you have the tools. I bought a set from board member SG Motorsports which also included a tool to remove the ignition lock cylinder. That's another good thing to replace if yours is still original.

Thank you both. Gauges are good cosmetic only. I will stick with original bulbs no led for me.

Are any parts from a 1990-92 r129 cluster (digital odometer) good replacement prices for the .036?

I believe the gas tank capacity on the r129 is not the same as the .036, so I don't imagine the gas gage is not of any use.

I don't believe any are, although not completely sure. I do know the W140 and 1994 R129 share clusters.

No. Nothing from an R129 will fit an .036 in terms of the cluster (gauges, etc.).
