Please see the attached photo, does anyone know the part number or details on these little buggers? Hopefully the photo does a good job of displaying exactly what I'm referencing.

Thank you!

Idk, but do you need them? I have a cracked up dash if you need them for ship cost only.

Thank you!

#126 988 10 78 and you need 4 off these clips, 2 on top + 2 on bottom.

The clips can be pushed off when the cluster is installed, so if they are missing they may lay inside the dashboard. Use a flexible magnet stick or something similar and search randomly inside. It is not for the cost of the clip itself, but they shouldn't be in there gnawing on the cables.

Be sure that the 4 rubber pads are in place on the cluster too, the glue give up after some years and they fall off. They keep the cluster stable in place. Use some kind of "Gleitpaste" on the rubber pads to ease the cluster installation to avoid the pads & clips to be pushed off.

Happy wrenching! :rugby:

Thank you both! Yeah I need them... Previous owner installed K40 and assume he or his mechanic lost a few in the process.

Nocfn, I'll send you a PM.

Thanks guys

Also 500AMM, what software/program is that? IS WIS / EPC?

I just picked up a refurb HP laptop specifically for car stuff. Currently, I've got a Macbook, but its a pain in the rear to run VM and the list goes on...

I never jumped on the Mac bandwagon, but felt I should get familiar with the interface like 2-years ago. Not my brew, great for simple stuff, but trying to pound out actual work is not efficient on such a device.

Thanks again.

Hello,

I have subscribed on the EPC run by Snap-On for Mercedes-Benz for about 8 years;
http://service-parts.mercedes-benz.com/dcagportal/DCAGPortal/portal.action

18 Euro per year for the EPC only and it works very well. The downside is that it's run on JAVA which is a real PITA to keep up with their continous updating. JAVA is more or less out here in Norway, too much hassle, even the bank systems has finally stopped using them. And the situation for me here at work is that I have max. 5-10 minutes to use the EPC until it is shut down, simply due to that JAVA thing. I'm not sure JAVA runs on Mac/Apple either.

I am not so good at data, but I take screenshots of the EPC and paste into PowerPoint, there I modify and create the image I want and save it as png-files for best quality. :-)

It's best to have a cheap, "throwaway" PC system at home that you can run the EPC on natively with Java.

If you have a Mac, then you can run the EPC in a virtual machine such as Parallels or VMware Fusion, or the free Oracle Virtual Box virtual machine. All you need is a copy of Windows.

That said, I run the complete EPC+WIS in a virtual machine, which I have as an image file that can be used with any virtual machine. It is a complete, pre-packaged copy of Windows XP that has the WIS+EPC loaded onto it, and it is very fast. Unfortunately it's about a 1.5 GB file, so I have not been successful uploading it to a site for FTP access, though I've tried many times. But for WIS access I use this.

For EPC access I just use the MB EPC, which I pay $10 USD for annually for access. The EPC is updated regularly so it's advisable to use this for the most recent information. The WIS, at least for our cars, is generally pretty static in terms of repair information, so it can pretty safely be used even as an older version (mine is from 2013).

My STAR C3 system also has the EPC+WIS, but it takes forever to boot up and run, so I only use it out in the shop for diagnostic purposes when needed (which isn't very often).

Cheers,
Gerry
