Leatherique on the arm rest

This is my first time using Leatherique and I thought I would start out with the before picture. My arm rest is the dirtiest part of the interior of my car. Its winter in the United States including California so I can't create a hot interior but I can trade time for heat on the armrest. I bought the 16oz kit of Rejuvenator and Prestine clean via Amazon. It came with a brush a spray head.

Attached is the before picture. Will post after when I get to that part.

My armrest looks similar to yours. My experience is that full correction will require dye work. Please keep up posted if you decide to go that route.

Just remember that you are dealing with organic material that has been worn, and is chemically treated. You are allowing a clean surface to absorb collagens to swell and expel dirt and oils. Soft approach with that pristine clean, warm water. Consider covering the areas with plastic bags and let it sit in the sun, it will get plenty warm over a 1-2 day period. Don't run so hard you remove the color, just remove the dirt. Using the rejuvenator works best on clean surfaces and work in with your hands and let it sit under the plastic in the sun for at least a day, better to get two.

I *think* that armrest will clean up ok. The darker areas in the middle are just dirty. The lighter areas around the edge are what the whole thing should look like.

I've used Meguiar's #39 "heavy duty vinyl cleaner" with a toothbrush and it can work wonders on the door panel tops, door handles, and yes even the armrest top. I know it's a product designed for vinyl and the armrest top is leather, but I've not had any problems (yet). Try the usual leather cleaners first though. If you do use the #39 on anything leather, make sure to apply leather treatment afterwards.

:wormhole:

You all best be very cautious with Leatherique leather cleaner as it WILL remove your dye. Good luck getting a color match from them, your best chance is to send them a piece of your colored interior and have them color match to it. Don't rely on Leatherique's ability to send you an accurate colored dye based on the color code of your car.

Ok, and here is the after photo. Not bad. Towards the back there is still some dirt in the grain and I will do one more application on the arm rest but now I am nit picking as it looks terrific and won't gross out my wife when I finally take her for a ride in this car.

Rest of the interior was done as well and it looks terrific. It started out pretty clean but now I know it was done and done right.

What products and steps did you end up with to get it clean ?

Did you notice any difference in the feel of the leather ?

I used Leatherique Rejuvenator and Leatherique Prestine clean per the directions here:
http://www.detailedimage.com/Ask-a-Pro/leatherique-leather-care-how-to/

The leatherique website is terribly organized but you can read on how to use the products there. I ordered the product through Amazon, the 16oz kit, which included a small brush:
http://www.amazon.com/Leatherique-L...F8&qid=1451096771&sr=8-1&keywords=leatherique

I just slathered on the rejuvenator oil by hand and then let it sit for 3 days. Everyone recommends doing this such that you can heat up your car in the sun as the rejuvenator product works better if the leather is warmer in temperature. Its winter time here in California, colder and rainy, and I just left my car in the garage. I'm doing one of my Porsche's now and will let that sit for a few weeks since I will be out of town and then use the Prestine clean when I get back.

Going forward I am going to use the Griot's line of leather care products to continually clean and nourish the leather in my car. On the arm rest which was in the worst condition, and dirty, there is definite change in the leather feel.
