I cannot make this weekend. A little heat doesn't scare me.. I make heat. Oh yeah baby. I'm going to do my best to make September 3, but I don't know whether I'll have the redlining issue resolved; I don't want to track my e500.
However, I'm very pleased to announce, the racing stripes have been completed.

Yes I did forget something. Eric would like me to report to you all that I did in fact hear/feel a definite 2nd gear chirp from his 300E. No doubt about it. First on a downhill freeway on ramp which should be harder to chirp, and again on flat ground with a much stronger and more noticeable chirp. So whatever that means, there you go.
Dave, Benzer1's tires are good enough that we did ALL of our drag racing with NO wheelspin despite the fact that I did NO tire warming! Watch the videos again!
Uncle Gerry, you are insulting the Sauceman's intelligence implying that he doesn't know a second gear chirp when he hears one!
Those second gear chirps were experienced on the way to the junkyard where Justin graciously helped me pull a new rear glass for Benzer3. (Thanks Justin!) So you goofballs better look out cause Benzer3 may make the 09/03 date!
Benzer1 got those second gear chirps despite being saddled with the additional weight of my tools and Justin and his tools. The chirps are even more impressive when it's just me riding!

Anyways, when I say chirp, I don't actually mean a high pitched birdie-noise. I definitely felt and heard a sizeable slip of the passenger side tire. I will record it if you guys really need evidence. However, you should know that I actually despise Eric and would never do anything to build him up if it wasn't the truth. His tranny shifts more firmly than mine which was modified with SL600 internals and tightened 1.5 turns on the modulator. Don't get me wrong, it's a slug off the line, but the shifts are the firmest I've felt in a w124, if not in any *automatic* car.

That was indeed a right-hand-drive Australian Ford Falcom, and yes that blower did indeed work. He would beat me with little difficulty, but never by much. But that wasn't a street car like mine was -- it was always trailered into the track. I drove my car the 2 miles from my garage to the track. Yes, I was using nitrous oxide then.

The racing season (weather permitting) always went until the end of October in Portland. I remember one year, the last race weekend of the season, the outside temps were about 35-36 degrees. I got among my best times there because I had a cool motor. No fan/ice required.
Remember, Uncle Gerry's Law: All other things being equal, M119 ETs are approximately minus 0.1 second of 1/4 mile time per 10 degrees reduction in temperature.

Well, the good news is that I fixed the turn signal issue - it would blink super fast, thereby allowing me to turn quickly, but now, bad news for you, it blinks at regular speed thereby giving me the additional 2 seconds forward thrust. The bad news is that it's so powerful a mod, I'm a bit concerned the car could blow up as it conflicts directly with this redlining issue I've been unable to track down yet, so sadly I have to bail.

Tihs lnik cusaes em bairn dmagae. It appears the next races are Oct 15th and Nov 19th. I will set those as target dates.
I may have to cancel as well depending on what the demand for me is, as I am not having any luck tracking down the source of the mysterious ticking noise. Got the valve covers off and the chain guides all seem to be intact, even the top pieces were not brittle and could be detached and reattached easily without incident. No obvious scoring on any of the cam lobes or lifters. Lifters all felt consistent when pushed with my finger. PCV did not seem to be clogged. Hoping it's not a bottom-end noise after all.
Since no one is gonna be there to tape the epic race between Benzer3 and your car, I might as well finish up my work and testing on Benzer1. I really want to pull some more (and consistent) 15s out of that nappy little punk M103 before I can call this project done. I still haven't gotten the new rear glass installed in B3 yet anyways although I could step it up and still get it done if I knew for sure that we were gonna have somebody there filming.
The Swedes are not showing any interest either except for one who I've never met who is thinking to bring his supercharged Miata because his Volvo isn't ready.
Ice and cooler are ready to go.

It looks like Dallas is losing his touch as he is now adjusting his forecast upwards to where everybody else's has been all along. He's now saying 95. Meanwhile, the others are adjusting theirs even higher. Some are even saying 100 now. Bunkness! Steve, at what temperature point will you be losing interest? Keep in mind that this is the LAST twilight date till next Summer.

Well, since it was around 97°F last September and we still ran our cars, I see no reason why 100°F would stop me from coming down. I also might partake in one of the morning drags, but first need to come to terms with showing up to the track that early in the morning, otherwise waiting for next Summer to run again is a long time from now. So if it's just two of us this Saturday, I'll bring less drinks this time.
