Looking for recommended OBDII scan tool

I am looking for a readily available obdII scan tool, available at local parts or tool store stores.

This off topic because it's not a tool used for 500e's.

I am having issues getting monitors to reset on my 1996 C36, known Achilles heel for these models.

I want to get my own scan tool and wondering which is best for Mercedes.

Regards

I'd consider the Chinese Star Compact C3/C4 SDS clones. Not only will it do more than any aftermarket OBD-II scan tool, it will also do everything possible on your 500E. See the thread with Gerry's writeup on the Compact C3 he bought a few years ago.

1996 C36 is unlikely to have many systems on OBD2. You'll probably need to go through the 38 pin to get to most systems.
