Lowering: H&R springs vs 1-bump pads? Also SLS question

Yeah, on a flat surface it is near perfect. I think I will wait a few months and let the new front pads bed in then see if any adjustment needs to be made.

Just an update!

My SLS is deleted.
I got adjustable camber links from Speedway motors
My LCA is like the RDM-TEK, 5mm shortened and installed with polyurethane bushes from hedgehog-motorsport.com
My Rear sway bar is also installed with polyurethane bushes from hedgehog-motorsport.com
My shock Absorbers are koni sports (26-1198S)
My springs are AMG from w210 E55 AMG (two yellow marks), 1/2 coil is removed and the pads are from a w210 as well.
Tie rod, torque and trust arms are with polyurethane bushes as well.
The subframe is mounted with two new sportline bushings on the rear.

I'm still not happy, the conors handling is ok - but bumpiness/roughness roads makes the rear end feel slippy.
So I might need to take the subframe down for inspection, the front subframe mounts on the chassis (on the picture) looks like a weak point to me, has anyone replaced those?

I consider upgrading:
The torque with aluminum from the T-model (210-350-37-06)
Installing #1 pads (8 mm) and if possilbe get a set of E60 rear springs from Mercedes

I also found out that these cars are extremely sensitive towards alignment, only a few can make it right!
(on my last alignment most hightec Hunter - they gave up after two attempts - and the steering wheel is still not in the center).

I just picked up a new set of AMG w210 E55 springs at my Mercedes dealer, they cost ~100$ per spring MA 210 324 38 04 and I installed them today, I did not cut them so it was a bolt on. The car is not lowed to much which is not so good. After a long drive my conclusion is that the car now has perfect handing without being to harsh but still good in coners at high speed. When installing be sure to use the lowest pads 9mm - 210 325 0284 O. After testing a lot of setup the past years I believe this is the best setup for SLS delete.

I am interested in wire diameter and total spring height of the E55 springs if you happen to have it as well.

I just got these LCAs from Naperville. Any way to tell if these are the bad TRW LCAs? I see a stamped logo, but I can't tell if it's the MB logo or just a +.

Also, there's a small hole near the ball joint that has a white plastic cap on it. Is this for a grease fitting?

Jon, those are good, they look like normal OE / Genuine LCA's. Nothing of concern. The aftermarket TRW have no TRW logo cast anywhere, they appear to be repackaged Febi. Very different in every way if you compare them side by side.

No, the hole may be related to manufacturing / casting... I'm not sure exactly. Definitely not a grease point, it just goes into the open cavity inside. You can seal it with RTV if you'd like. I thought mine arrived with a plastic plug in that hole. (?)

Click here, check out the "exterior" pics. That is with stock springs, 2-bump pads up front, 1-bump pads in the rear, and a full tank of fuel. The rear sits about a half-inch higher with an empty tank.

For comparison, click here to see a 500E with H&R springs, with 4-pt pads up front, and 1-pt pads in the rear. With 1-pt pads all around on H&R's, the car would be - IMO - stupid low. I bought the car as shown with the H&R's, and actually converted it back to stock springs. I personally think the H&R's drop the front too much.
Dave, what are the wheel and tire sizes on both cars?

linjam, the silver car has 8.5x18 front with 255/40, rear is 10x18 with 285/35, no rubbing with Conti DW.

Smoke silver pics show 17x8.5 ET30 all around with 245/45/17 tires; note that those are pics of how it looked when I bought it... since then I installed stock springs. Think I may have cut 1/4 coil (?) off the stock rears to lower the rear just a hair. Click here for newer pics with the stock springs.
