Chaps, has anyone got one or used one of these?

It seems like it should be very good but I can’t get the ‘spinny things’ to either remove from the channels or lock in place in the channels. They will not turn enough either way to go into each of those positions although they do turn enough to engage/disengage the attachments (aluminium guard/tie down hooks)

Any loungers be appreciated

I had that in a S211 and it worked fine. But the twist locks may dry out over time making them hard to relase from the rails. Try a dash of lube followed by massage. And if you don't like stinky WD40 in your car you protect the carpet before the spray exercise. :)

Hi. Thanks. I though the same as to the fault. I did a quick squirt of lube but haven’t spent enough time playing with them. Even the ones not in the rails will not turn fully. It seems a good system, if working

I always felt like this system was too complicated. My Dad did advertising for MB Canada during this era so we saw a lot of press cars, this included, and it seemed to not offer much additional utility relative to a few well placed tie downs.

This worked fine on our car and it was in daily use, very practical IMO to avoid things being tossed around back there. I could feel the attachement was snug sometimes, but I guess daily use kept them operative. I think this is intentionally for light use, not heavy loads.

In case anyone else get this system and experiences similar issues, there are two spring tensioned ball bearings which act as a sort of lock at either extremity of the mechanism. In each piece, both ball bearing had pushed out of their recess and were stopping the mechanism from moving its full range.

The metal insert pushes out of the plastic housing but to get into the mechanism to relocate the balls, I had to break off the plastic feet to access the screws.

Fixed now but the plastic housing is also brittle so they are definitely iffy

Nice system tho
