Michelin tire recommendation - 245/45-17

Looking for 245/45-17 Michelins for everyday "general" use.

Hearing good things about Hankook and agree that these are probably the best bang for the buck. I know... Michelins are overpriced but want to try them this time.

Looking for comfortable/quiet ride and good handling. Not really looking for ultra high perfomance. Will see occasional wet driving.

It pretty much comes down to Pilot Sport A/S, Primacy MXM4, and may be few others.

Any comments, criticism, and perhaps suggestions other brands/tires? Thanks.

I don't like the noise coming from the Pilot Sport A/S.

I used to only use pirellis but they wear too fast and have tried Continentals CSC3 and I think they are pretty good not as sticky but these last a bit longer.

I Think the A/S's were recently re-designed, they're not as loud and still work Very nicely!

I have clients on the MXM4's w/ 500SL's and they are Quite pleased.

Based on what you are talking about, the latter would be my choice.

Conti's show up out of round too often for me to feel comfortable recommending...and I REALLY don't like pirelli's..they're great when they are new, but past 50% they're trash.

I moved away from Michelin to Continental Contact 2 and now, on the new wheels, Contact 3 in 245/45R17W .
Two of the expensive Michelins went out of balance around 12,000km and couldn't be corrected wherever they were put on the wheel - $500+ down the pan - and the other two were not that good in the wet.
Got the Continentals fitted and had no problems since with good grip wet or dry, long life (45,000km+) - hence them going onto the Ceginus wheels as first choice.

Wait until April when more sizes of Pilot Sport 3 will be available in North America. I'm hoping 245/45-17 will be one as they are now available in Europe.
