MORE PICS OF THE (RETROFITTED?) CABIN FILTERS

Am posting some more pics of the cabin filters. The query re these was first raised in another thread, when I wrote I was surprised my 500E (late 1992 build Euro spec) has them.

I think it was suggested they may have been retrofitted.

Can anyone see from the pics whether the fitment is original or not?

Many thanks.

You can't retrofit it without replacing whole heater box. It's not easy and quick operation. I saw two 1992 euro spec 124 with factory installed filters.

Yeh, that's what I understood. Interesting you've seen some euro spec 124's with installed filters. Does the answer lay in my Data Card? I have a code 620 (Air pollution control) - is this cabin filters?

Anyone?

My 1992 Euro 500E also has code '620 Air Pollution Control' in the Data card. But it does not look like yours / or have filters installed.

I took a picture way back when I replaced the blower motor - should be good for comparison on here -

I do not remember exactly but one certainly had the code 305 dust filter in data card. Air pollution control is catalyst converter in exhaust system.

OK , so "air pollution control" relates to exhaust. "Dust filter" seems closer to "cabin filter" - but I don't have a 305 on my data card!
