NEED A PART NUMBER

I asked Anaheim MBZ Wholesale to get me a pair of plastic clips that attach to my headlights through the top of the radiator frame. They are about 2" in diameter and set right on top of the frame.

Needless to say I got the wrong part.

I have no idea what these clips are called or what is the purpose they actually serve.

Wiki Dave will know. Is there a part number for these clips?

Thanks

Not sure of their name, but they keep the top of the headlights from being pushed backwards and I think they keep the top of headlights secure to the top of the frame.

It's actually good to have a couple of these clips in your parts stash. They are cheap and they tend to crack and get brittle from exposure and engine heat. Good underhood plastic replacement item!! I have done then on both of my 124s !!

Thanks Guys,

I agree with Gerry. I am going to get an extra set. These may be going the way of the DoDo Bird.

I use this parts guy all of the time. He showed me the picture he pulled up and they were not in it.
The part number was 201-826-00-71 "screw" ??

Steve, Your explanation makes sense. I think maybe the top clip stabilizes the light from vibrating.

Glen, Furor thanks for the numbers.

Terry,

These clips are cheap, but they are also very brittle! They are prone to break already during installation. It is aslo a crappy design on the entire assembly, but it does the job as soon as the clips are properly installed.

The "fingers" entering the headlight housing will easly get jammed when you start twisting them into position. As soon as you use more pressure, those "fingers" easily break. I recommend lubricating with soap or soap/water mix, that's good on plastics. I guess silicon spray can be used too, but silicon is not favourable with regard to later respray etc.. Additionally you have to constantly rock the headlight when you start twisting the clip, that avoids any jamming. I always use a inter-locking plier to get a good grip and controll on the twisting. On the other hand, I have also installed these clips smoothly with my fingers only, I guess that is the intention too.

Just my 2 cents.. :-)

Thanks for the advise Arnt. The soap sounds like a good idea. i know they are PITA.

One just crumbled on it's own. I will be getting 4 parts today.

Take Care
