NOS Audio 30 APS found!

Found this on Swedish Ebay variant "Tradera". 537 Swedish kronor I paid including shipping, that´s a whopping $84, yes eighty-four. Swedish Mercedes-dealer that's doing a clearance sale! New in box, just the replacement unit though so no discs or GPS antennae. Got an antennae from Ebay for €12, discs from somewhere else.

Thanks. It's in terms of navigation a very dated unit, but the sound is ok and it looks good. Last map updates came in 2008 me thinks. Also it has D2B fibre optics so the Mercedes-Player can be installed.

Since my E420 is a facelift model this unit is plug and play. Actually my car had the Becker Traffic Pro Highspeed installed by the previous owner, I sold that one when I found the NOS Exquisit. But now I have an even better unit. :

Couldnt help myself, just had to fit it to see how it looks:



Powered it on and it works just fine, however no GPS antennae so it complains on that. I'll test it further once I get the antennae from the Germanae.

Radio's properly installed now, got the antennae last week or so. Tucked it away under the passenger carpet, probably not the best location but as long as it can get some signal I'm happy, not gonna use the navigation on the unit anyway.

Inserted my new navi discs to update the system, which worked fine. Unfortunately the car's in an old garage that was built as a bomb shelter during the cold war, so the concrete roof is not letting neither radiation nor GPS-signals through. So that will be tested later.

Finally, didn't recieve a manual for this unit since it was sold as a replacement unit. Gonna order a manual from Mercedes, but in the meantime, how the hell do I access the settings menu? Heard something about second and seventh key, but no reaction on my unit. Anybody?

To get antenna reception, it will need to be placed either on top of the dash, or on top of the rear parcel shelf, or placed outside the car. Any metal above the antenna prevents reception. I tried placing the antenna under the front dash but there was zero reception there. And I didn't want it sitting on top of the front dash. What worked for me was getting an extension cable and placing the antenna in the rear of the car on the parcel shelf, by the rear headrests. Metalized window tint will reduce signal strength, it's best to either have no tint, or dye-based tint like 3M ColorStable.

I can't help with the setting menu access... sorry! I have an Audio 10 manual here, but not Audio 30.

Found the menu I was looking for btw

So now it's all installed, just waiting for the Mp40 to arrive.
