Hei Michel.

Good to see you progress well on the repair. The gasket set was quite spendy! I guess it includes all gaskets for the engine block, does it include the inlet and exhaust manifold gaskets too? This is a good opportunity to do some preps on the inlet and exhaust channels when the heads are out, just to optimize for enhanced flow.

yes all gaskets incl. the bolds for the cilinderheads, and yes a great opportunaty to optimize, we will do so.

Stick that legendary 39mm intake valve in there along with a port & polish!! Then you'd need bigger camshafts too... :D

Ohhh yeahhh... Do the Hagmann Profile at least (search on Forums), this will probably give you another 30HP (DIN).
At least thats what a guy in german W124-Freunde Forum has posted after he installed the Hagmann cams into his E60AMG.

This measurement was at the time with 5 liter engine and was because i have no cat's and à open airflow Eisenmann exhaust.

A new day in the process, the front is of the engine and we came on a defect waterpump, oilchain + tensioner and 2 motormounts

Why do you have a center wheel for the chain?
Nice pictures! Keep em coming...
Price for the Headgaskets are fun, arent they? Lol....
Elring offers them for 250€/piece IF you order 3 Sets at a bare minimum. Just say you want M119.974 (and the correct type of heads - open/closed deck) Headgaskets with a bore of 101mm. When now adding the heads to the block again, and tightening them, the metal 101mm bore sleeve in the gasket compresses to exactly 100mm.

EDIT: Can you do close-up pics of your Heads? The ports from both sides?

The price, while high, for 3 sets (1500 Euro), is less than a single set from Mercedes or AMG which is about 1800 Euro's a pair!!!

No one ever said this hobby is cheap.

Ron

I wonder how much the price drops if you buy 10 or 20 sets. Group buy, anyone...?

Today the new waterpump was in and the new dynamo

Things are looking good... Test drive !

What was the cost of 6.0L parts (Head Gasket..)?

That's not bad! I was expecting something like 1500 Euro each.

Any other 6.0L specific parts replaced?

No 2 waterpumps, dyno (reviced), oilpump (reviced), all rubber hoses, engine mounts and revices stering pump.
And of course al parts in the cilinderheads

I mean the job is done, we discovered a lot of minor issues like cracked hoses, vacuum leaks, burned rotors, the enigine mounts make a big difference as well.

Due to al these things its feels silky smouth, the gear shifting is better as well.
Now easy going for the first 1000 miles

This day was around 22 degrees and the engine never came above the 90 degrees so my problem with the engine running 100-110 degrees was for sure the waterpump.

I have all the old parts in a box so I will take a picture of it. Its difficult to see but the blades are worm and cracked.

I also have 2 cilinderheads I dont need anymore.

After the engine rebuild we had 1000 km on the clock and changed the oil and took a small testdrive in the streets

Michel came to visit me at the shop today, we had a quick talk, took some pictures and drove around a bit.

What's kinda sad is that when he was driving in third and I was flooring it in second, he drove away and I couldn't catch up. That car is seriously fast. We didn't do a proper race because of his gearbox needing one last tweak, but that will come next time. And I already know I won't stand a chance.

Was a nice but rather short meeting (sorry for that), but made some nice pics of 2 completely different cars in every way. Did you get the sound difference on tape Jelmer?
Jackle en Hide those two.

Glad that the heat problem is solved for you.

Don't worry your car runs great, it would be very strange if it was the other way around.
There is always something faster, mine against the Norwegian 6.0 supercharger would be dissaster for me.

After a day of detailing a nice result on the shine factor

Hey, those look kinda good imho. Any pics of them under the car?

Also: when will your car go to Cor for its rear-end rubber-stuff change? (If I understood right, that is)

So there under the car

Nice set for the winter going to polish the AMG and store them.
The 4 tires of the summer set are a total loss
