• Hi Guest !

    Welcome to the 500Eboard forum.

Since its founding in late 2008, 500Eboard has become the leading resource on the Internet for all things related to the Mercedes-Benz 500E and E500. In recent years, we have also expanded to include the 400E and E420 models, which are directly related to the 500E/E500.

We invite you to browse and take advantage of the information and resources here on the site. If you find helpful information, please register for full membership, and you'll find even more resources available. Feel free to ask questions, and make liberal use of the "Search" function to find answers.

We hope you will become an active contributor to the community!

OWNER - ReVox (E60 Limited)

I do have another question to the audience.

Currently we and as well other fora are discussing always, if one E 60 might be 1 of the "12". Just in another thread in this forum I was reading about an owner who is offering the limited interior design of an E 60, because that E 60 was demolished. Does this might mean, that from the "12" only still "11" are alive, or even less? Was this source checked? Does some one knows anything about it? Would be interesting to get some more information.

There is one, silver with black interior, currently in Arizona, verified as a legit "code 957" E60. There may be another one or two but if so, nobody has found it yet.

:detective:

Was there ever a thread on this forum for this car?

It's probably safe to say that at least 1-2 of the 12 E60 Limited models are probably wrecked, decommissioned or otherwise gone. But no one could really know for sure....

Was there ever a thread on this forum for this car?
On the old 500Ecatasy forum, yes, there was a thread... but that's long gone. The owner no longer frequents the forums. He still has the car, last I heard. Pics of the car are on my website here.

:e500launch:

We'd need the VIN of the other car to validate if it's one of the 12 originals.

:detective:

The story of the 12 E60 Limited seems to be a legend. You can find that number in many forums worldwide. But you will never find a word about the source. Or has anyone detailed information? Than please let me know.

After digging in my database I have found at least 45 of .036 with code 957 and 958.

Oooooo. That is very interesting! Thanks for the info.

Gerry, do you know where the "12" number first appeared?

It would be interesting to verify if there really were only 500 Limited producted (code 958) and then see how many of those Limiteds also have code 957 (E60).

:detective:

No, I think I first heard it from Craig Ketchen, but it's correct that this number is oft repeated, with no definitive substantiation.

I think there were 501 (perhaps a couple more) Limiteds produced, but it was close to 500 total...

I do have an original E 500 Limited brochure from MB at hand, where MB was saying, that this production is limited to 500 cars.

In addition it might be a difference how the sales person was preparing the order maybe. I have seen an order form where an E 60 was ordered and charged on the order form with a higher price and the option code 957 was charged with "0" whereas I have seen as well an order form where an E 500 Limited was ordered with its price and the option code 957 was charged with 29,000 DM. I suppose the factory output was the same, only the order form was filled out differently. Can this be?

By the way, I found my official data code print from MB which I attache here for the audience:

There is a "small" dfference between what MB was printing and what was leaving the factory. Maybe the Limited is not so limited. At least i have found 951 of .036 with code 958. Has anyone a reliable source for numbers of Limited's except the MB Limited brochure?

Now that really is interesting info. Suddenly MB's data is losing credibility. Almost twice the claimed number of Limiteds? Wow!!

Edit: PDF file linked above is for VIN WDB1240361C169787 .

I do have a new source in respect of the manufactured units of E 60. An old gentlemen who has both, E 500 Limited and E 60 Limited, and his expertise is excellent. He was told by a Relationship Manager from the technical department of AMG that the figure 128 E 60 AMG and around 12 E 60 AMG Limited might be the correct figures.

Was already someone personally at AMG headquarter? I am likely to visit AMG in June on my way to Bavaria for clarification, if my time table will allow. Maybe I can get some evidence.

Hmmm, Revox I think you gave us an Idea for a venue ;) ...

So, while in Hamburg for the W124CC-Club meet (more on that later), I met a man who calls himself ReVox on this forum. As he is the owner of one of the 12 original E60 Limited-thingies, I couldn't resist taking pictures and sitting inside. Yes, call me crazy, but I actually had him take a picture of me in the car. I feel famous ;-)

About the car, then. Is it perfect? No. Does it look like it just came rolling out of the factory? No. Is that bad? No, no no! Simply put, the car looks awesome. The exterior is near-perfect, the interior shows sliiiight usage on the driver seat, some on the driver-side door, and some on the steering wheel. That's it. Those little things make the car look used. It shows it's more than a simple object people use to get from A to B, it shows people took a lot of effort to keep a car for 20 years in this condition. IMHO, replacing the leather with new leather will undo all that.

Engine-wise it's nearly perfect, as well. Gearbox, electronics, exhaust, whatever, feels good. Understandably, we didn't do any drag-racing or 0-100 tests. What I *did* notice is the 6L has plenty more power in the lower end. The acceleration he managed with the engine making a "purrrr" sound is similar to mine at full-throttle at 5000rpm, it seems.

I love it. I hope you won't mind me uploading plenty of photo's of the beauty.

In some moment this cars make a big jump on their prices. For example 5 years ago the BMW M3 evo, jumps a lot (europe) in his price and never goes down. Always in mint condition; less than 50.000 km, etc.
I think that the E60 will be more expendsive than the ones that you talk about. For example Brabus (Germany) was selling last year in more than 300.000 one 124. Obviously is a matter of taste and priorities to buy one of those cars; but the price I think, is much higher than you think.
Regards.

I'm not sure what you mean? "than the ones you talk about" - I'm talking about 1 of the 12 original W124 E60 AMG Limited whatnots. They don't come much rarer than that. And yes, it's expensive and price is only going up. And I know exactly what it's worth ;-)

Know this car, a dream.
dear, there are ( some say) more than 40 E60 Limited VIN´s... as soon as i will proof that- i´ll let you know.

Hello together,

Jelmer, I do agree,

EVO II, can you define your comment more precisely?

I am now back from the annual W 124 meeting in Hamburg. Jelmer, it was great to meet you and your family there and thanks for posting all the pics. So I don't need anymore to do as you did so precisely in such a good quality. Very much appreciated.

036, some evidence will be always welcome but it does change only very little the worth of such a car. I did expect some interest on this meeting in Hamburg but was overwhelmed to see such a strong interest in my E 60 and I got the feedback that this would be a dream of some clubmembers. Again, such a price is by heart and as I saw the reality. There was a row of waiting guys to buy this car. If I did say no, the next would say immediately yes. That's the game.

Great photos Jelmer...thanks! You're a lucky man ReVox...stunning car.

Has anyone been able to source door sills similar to those installed in ReVox's E60? With 'Mercedes-Benz' in place of '///AMG'?

Also, does anyone happen to know the part number for the clear corner lights, which I believe are different than the '94 facelift corners?

Thanks 8899, yes I know the honor and I am lucky with every KM.

In addition here are a few pics which I did when driving or from outside during this fantastic annual event around Hamburg:

Basically, I think that the prices of the E60 IS NOT 50.000 U$, is much more, and only goes up with the years. The other cars that I mentioned was only examples of cars that sudenly goes their prices high and never goes down. I think that the E60, 6.0 wide sec, Evo II are models that has a special value.

I suppose if I remember right that this was the two over priced E 60 for more than 100 k€. You will find them under www.mobile.de . Then search for Mercedes E 60.

I am back from my second tour with the W 124 Germany Club in Bavaria. Was again wonderful with mostly good weather. Main visit point was the Chiem Lake. But highlight was the cow in the middle of the street. By the way, the orange Cabrio was one of two only produced "designo orange metallic" which were able on special request and are original. Enjoy the pics:

I can tell you that one E60 Limited is destroyed!! This one stands near Hamburg in my Garage with 58000km on it!
but no title or VIN! Insurance has cut it out before i bought this one very cheap....

Nice One ReVox!!! I have seen yours at Bernhard befor you bought it... :) my other '92 is also from him...

Sad to hear that one E 60 AMG Limited is already gone. Even if hard to see, do you have some pics from that car? Which one did you buy earlier from Bernhard?

I bought a '92 one some years ago from him in "199", but I stop sometimes there for Coffee ;)

It is Sad! tail is totally destroyed up to the rear axel :( but the front looks perfect!
Pics.... any at this moment! they are on my other Laptop in Germany.....

thanks, now I got it, the expression is "sabbern". Took me a while. By the way, was driving again today my beauty. I cannot get enough especially as I drive only when weather is perfect like today.

Hi Guys,
I just brought the July addition of Mercedes enthusiast and look what I found:
Mercedes E60 AMG 1 of 12 has had write up done, the same one which is selling at £110 in the UK.
The car looks mint inside and out, even the editor was shock how well clean it’s been kept.

I have attached couple of pics of the magazine….

I'd still love to get confirmation about the total number of E60 Limiteds... apparently the datacards indicate there were many more than 12 produced.

Hello together,

long time no hear.

As promised I will share one more picture of the last tour in Bavaria and the final picture for this year as my beauty is now ready to overwinter...

View attachment 21918View attachment 21917

...and I like to show you my new substitute which I wanted normally to drive on a daily base but in this condition I will skip the nasty winter time. The condition of this car is even better than the already fantastic E 60. I am not sure if there is a similar car in such condition even if no E500E but... the car is like a wandering dune (no turbo but a prechamber (?!?) diesel): Time with this car is not important. You are driving not from A to B but "the journey is the reward", I think you may know what I mean. The sound of the engine remembers me to the time of the taxis in the 90th. The car is getting 20 years in November, has zero rust (now protected with Mike Sanders fat) and the service intervals were as follows:

1994 at 1150 km
1999 at 9148 km
2001 at 11938 km
2005 at 14007 km
2007 at 14064 km
2009 at 14275 km

Have a look:

A W124 event would be fun. I'd love to see one organized here in the Pacific Moist West.

I cannot believe this car !!! what's the story ???

You finally found a brand new w124 for a daily driver .... but now it does not feel right to drive this car !

You missed the 500E event we had in February, 2008 that we had at Portland International Raceway. I think there were 8-9 E500Es in attendance.

Here's a couple of photos of me, hanging out with ReVox in his home country of Luxembourg, in late June 2013. Boy, his E60 sure makes me look good! Or conversely, being next to me probably reduced the value of his car by several thousand Euros....at least temporarily :(

...and who was again the dealer where I have bought??? Of course Bernhard W. from Uelsby, who else. I am so lucky (already second time this year). The car has a smell of a new factory delivered car. Thought I was picking up the car from Stuttgart. Never someone was sitting on the back seats. Unbelievable. Former owner was an old man. Car was always in a heated garage. The varnish is like new factory painted.

I was a Corvette guy in 2008. I've since moved over to the dark side.

Hi Revox

So, it is time for the winter hibernation, it's best to avoid the "chemical" winter roads. I guess that happens in Luxembourg too somtimes during the winter.

I studied all pictures of your car, and I wonder if your EVO II wheels has the real Diamond Cut finish (..as delivered on the Limiteds), or are they grey all over?

Cheers
