FOR SALE Parting out: 1992 400E, White/Gray, 140kmi, non-ASR

It's the only real direct way I have to drive into DC, particulary if I'm going to Reagan Airport or the White House/L'Enfant Plaza area. Who wants to hassle with New York Ave ?!? Always get an eye-ful of stripped cars on the feeder road next to Kenilworth on the way to US-50. Any given day there are 3-4 totally stripped cars along there next to the gas stations.
That was my commute for some years. I lived in Georgetown and worked at AAMC. Out past the Fastenal place on the 50

Drew, may I add the door felt pieces? Gsxr description:

"I forgot about the door panel felt! Also forgot those were NLA. Might be able to source these from a parts car. New door felts are self-adhesive and stick on top of the plastic vapor barrier (which is also usually a mess after multiple people have worked inside the doors). All my cars had the factory felt so I'm not sure how much difference there is without it. MB added the felt when the put the midbass drivers in the doors as of 1990."
I have a roll of dark blue interior door felt trim, new in box if anyone can use it. My mechanic needed to get rid of it.

Anyone removing door panels should be interested. This is thin enough to possibly double up over factory for additional benefit. I installed 1/4 inch insulation on the backside of the door skins for additional cabin quietness.

I'll take it!

With all the past audio system work on the car, I think mine is gone or mostly gone anyway.

Jamie

Drew, if the anodized roof and front/rear window aluminum is in really good shape, may I add that to the list?

Jamie

The roof and window trims are faded. You will find most all cars with original trims except those that sit in garages will look the same. I believe they are still available new from MB. The two roof trims are about $150.00 per side. Front window trim was under $40.00 i believe. Rear window removal may be required to replace the rear window trims. There was discussion about this topic last year, complete with part no.s. Maybe others will add to my response.

Hi Drew,
Do you have the trunk mounted stereo amplifier bracket?
I'm not even sure it's the right part for my 93 500e, but the one I bought on ebay is definitely not the right part for my car.
Maybe if you have it and willing post a pic?
Thanks,
Steve

1992 400E amplifier bracket. Will fit early 036.
$35.00 plus shipping. This fits in a medium size USPS flat rate box.

Hiya Drew,

I am looking for the foam inserts within the front fenders below the blinkers - if they are available, I would be keen to get them;

I am also looking for the rubber trims on each side of the front fenders as well as the rubber trims that go on the forward plastic trims of the front wheel wells. If the engine undertray rubber trims are still there, could you please advise?

Does the vehicle still have its rear bumper inserts that cover the area between the rear wheel arch and the trunk area? If so, please put me down for these?

I am looking for the little plastic tray that houses the windshield heater bits and this is found on the driver's side back of the hood - it is a flat back tray which is prised out carefully so as not to damage the tabs.

Cheers

Perry

Drew, btw... if the squirter schnozzles will come out intact, those should also be worth a few bucks to someone who wants spares. After I had to remove one for something (forget why), I found the plastic part that has to be pressed in for removal... can break off. I snagged a couple replacements at the junkyard, but they're not always usable, for the same reason. MB Classic is indicating the driver side is NLA, passenger side still available...

Well if that’s the case, I’ll take them as spares. NLA?? Really???

Two members asked for the same bracket. Fortunately there are two available. Will clear this up tomorrow.

drew

Member svhamilly asked for the amp bracket earlier on however qwick4door has one for sale as well. If He could make his bracket available to svhamilly I will include my bracket with your parts.

Drew,

Any chance the "funnel" on the left side (driver's) cooling tube for the engine mount is available? It's a part number 124 520 10 05, # 5 in the drawing, if that helps.

Screen Shot 2020-05-11 at 11.20.22 AM.jpg

Thanks!

Dan

I do have both sides, Dan. If it's just the funnel you need i'll ship it with your other things for $15.00.

drew

I'm going to verify that I don't need any of the additional tubing on the driver's side and let you know. I'm pretty sure I just need the "funnel", but I'll confirm in a bit.

Thank you!

Drew,

I did confirm that I just need the "funnel" on the driver's (left) side. I've got the tubing all the way up to the joint at the funnel and the bracket, so I'm good to go, thanks!

Any chance the car has a good electric antenna? I may need one...

Dan

I do have one in untested condition. I'll power it up when i can and see how it works.

edit; I'm sorry, Dan. After looking I see someone else had already inquired about the antenna. I'll keep everyone posted.

Not a problem, Drew, thanks! I've found another source for one.

Member Kwontomspeed scheduled to pick up cat pipe with option for crossover pipe on 5/09/2020.

Eric / Oakland 124 has first dibs or refusal on remaining two exhaust pieces.

Hi Drew, I'm going to pass on the exhaust pieces as I was primarily looking for the CAT. Thank you.

Non-ASR axles are smaller diameter... not correct for the 036. Diff housing isn't the same either (and, wrong gearing).

:runexe:

Posted at the same time. Dave, I would have thought the diff was physically the same. What's the difference?

drew

Drew, the non-ASR diff has a single sensor at the pinion, measuring input shaft speed (before gear reduction).

ASR diff has 2 sensors on top, one at each output flange (after gear reduction), measuring each wheel speed separately.

Different housings, not interchangeable. Sames size (210mm) internals though.

:3gears:

Update, I removed the trunk "pad" successfully last weekend. Slow and easy skinning it off like removing an animal hide. Only the audio wiring harness left. I'm working on it now.

drew

Looking for the pair of amps from trunk along with the molex plugs for them with a foot of so of the wiring if possible

thanks
