Hi.
http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/rmp/rays ... wheels.jsp
I recently came over a totally burned 2007/2008 Porsche 9..(something) at the breakers yard. The wheels didn't look too bad, only miscolored and covered of sot. On a closer look I found the stickers; Rays Engineering, Forged Wheels. It is the Grade A225 flat gold, 19" probably 8,5" - 9,5" wide. They don't fit the 500E without adapters, but they could absolutely be rescued.
Do anyone have experience with RMP wheels?

I believe its the same company that does Volk rims. they have many different lines from forged to cast. I'd be a bit concerned if a rim is discolored. Sounds like it was near some really high heat which can weaken the rim.

Yes, it is the same producer of the Volk rims. The RMP Grade A225 in flat gold is actually not my preference for the 500E , but it is really strong, light weight and high quality (..and high price) rims. For me is the Volk TE37 number 1. :up2:
I agree on the worries about the strength properties. From what I think in this case, hasn't the temperature reached a level which provokes any structural transformation in the base material. The rims and it's painting has not caught fire and the tires is still on, only partly burned. The wheels had a lock nut, but the breakers staff couldn't find the key socket. I broke up the glove compartment and it was in there. I guess this is the only time I will do a break-in into a Porsche.
The wheels will be taken off on Monday so I can inspect them, so I'll see then.
Another strange thing with this car is that the previous owner (in fact an American), converted this Porsche to an electric car - a brand new Porsche?!? That was also the reason for the fire - it started during battery charging.
