Hello Gentlemen :)

I am in need to 2 new (hopefully) Silver Arrow rear caliper pins A0019912760x4, as my existing had corrosion on them and I wanted to replace them. It's # 10 on the attached drawing.

Upon checking with Colby@MB Classic Center, the parts are NLA.

I'd appreciate it if there's anyone with info as to where I may be able to buy these or has some laying around somewhere in their parts stocks.

Thank you in advance

Chicky, have you checked with other vendors worldwide? That part number still shows available at MBCC in Germany. If truly NLA, it must have been a very recent NLA. Note that MBCC is showing a part number with a -65 suffix as available now (001-991-27-60-65), indicating an alternate supplier:

Alternately, there is an aftermarket equivalent from CENTRIC, p/n 117-35025 is a hardware kit which includes 4 pins and 2 springs, click here.

Hello Dave,

"That part number still shows available at MBCC in Germany." ... WOW :) what a stroke of luck for me ... as I am planning to also visit the MB Classic Center in Fellbach Germany, before going to the MB Museum this April. I will definitely try to source the 4 pcs. of these caliper pins.

The information on the Centric equivalent is really helpful, but that would be a 2nd alternative for me.

I highly appreciate your efforts to help me regarding the caliper pins.

A big THANK YOU

Best regards

Hello again Dave,

I went to the Centric link that you mentioned :) ... ~$6 for a set but then adding shipping charges to my freight forwarder in LA + air freight charges to Manila ($35 minimum charge for a package weighing up to 2 kilograms delivered to my door) ... not an option, but still very good info from you (y)

Thank you again and best regards

... I wonder if MB Classic Center in Fellback Germany will entertain pre-ordering of parts, so that when I do visit, the parts are available already given that my stay in the Stuttgart are is limited to 5 days only before returning back to Manila ... hmmm ... will try sending an email inquiry 🤔

PS: another NLA part is a fuel tank filter for my R129.066 (as per Colby/MB Classic Center USA) 😢, I'll ask MBCC in Germany

The tank filter A1294700206 shows NLA at MBCC... may still find a dusty NOS one on a shelf somewhere, but this will probably be more difficult to track down:

Again thank you very much Dave for the info on the R129 tank filter. I'll try searching ebay.de for fuel tank filters (new).

Best regards

Chicky, FYI, if the tank filter is undamaged... the screen can be cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaning tank. If damaged, then you'll need a replacement.

The same part number is used on possibly all R129 and W/V140 chassis, in case you need to source a used one to refurbish:

Hello Dave :)

Thank you for your advice 👍 ... I hope that when I do pull down the gas tank (for cleaning the inside) that the strainer is not damaged but just dirty ... now my next problem will be looking for a Manila based company that has ultra-sonic cleaning tank for this part 😟.

The only reason I wanted to pull down the tank and cleaning the inside, was that when I was loading up on gas the other day ... when i opened the gas cap I found "tan- colored dry residue (powder?) on the gasket. I think that this was due to the fact that during our 2.5+years of covid lockdown here and the car hardly used (meaning having only 3/4 tank full of gas ... the air trapped resulted in corrosion + an error (warning light on) on my fuel gauge that shows I am on "reserve and nearly empty" ... took the car to the gas station, and it only loaded 17 liters of fuel till full (the R129 gas tank has about 80liters capacity. BTW, after which, the fuel gauge as "full" ... and no more warning light. I am planning to service and clean the float level + change to a new fuel strainer (the reason for wanting to buy a new one) and related fuel tank gaskets. For me, the MORAL LESSON of the story: before "storing the car for periods more than 1 month ... always make sure of topping off the fuel tank ( so no air is trapped, as float level sender is very expensive $$$$ and fuel strainer are NLA + the PITA procedure of pulling down an R129 gas tank) 🥴

I tried searching for a new fuel strainer at ebay.de ... however, all listings were for used parts 😧 ... even tried searching for OEM/after market parts but no listing 😱 ... the search continues.

Best regards

Hello again Dave :)

... I was just thinking + hoping for your advice on the matter ... if in case I don't find a local shop that has an ultra-sonic cleaning tank for my tank strainer ... can I look for a container (that is gasoline rated not to melt) that can take in my fuel strainer + gasoline, my idea is to soak the strainer of about 1 day hopefully loosening up "debris" then using very low air pressure to blow off the said debris.

thank you in advance for your advice on the matter.

Best regards

Chicky, if shipping isn't too expensive, you may want to look into buying an ultrasonic cleaning tank. It can be used to clean all sorts of hardware. I've been planning to buy a 30L unit eventually. You may not need anything that large. Here's some examples:

Otherrwise, yes, soak the strainer first. Then gentry brush loose debris and clean/dry with compressed air.

Hi Dave,

Thank you for sharing that link ... the price for the machine is not bad and sending it over will not be a problem, as I can buy the machine, have it sent to my friend in L.A., and he can consolidate it together with other items that I buy (usually from Amazon, Home Depot, Costco etc) and he packs them into 24"x24"x18" shipping carton boxes for sea freight to Manila, delivered "door to door". We Filipinos call it "balik-bayan boxes", loosely translated "Back to the Philippines" boxes. It normally costs US$70 per box, it takes about 45~60 days to arrive at the house. As long as the items fit into the box, there is no weight limitation.

The link you provided above will easily fit into it + maybe a used W124.036 diff with ASR (is that a 2.85 ring gear and pinion) + a whole lot more ... as long as it fits into the box ... seriously. Usually in a year, I have him pack 2 of these boxes. I start buying September, but making sure that items bought are at his residence by 1st week of October. The boxes are picked up from his residence and normally arrive Manila by 1st week of December.

... now to think of other tools, parts etc for my October 2023 boxes :LOL::LOL: LOL

Best regards :D

Just an update re: Pre-Ordering of parts - MBCC Fellback

I sent them an email yesterday, and their reply stated:
"Thank you for your inquiry.
Due to existing contracts with the Mercedes-Benz sales department, since January 2014,
we are not able to sell original classic spare parts to customers directly anymore.
Please contact your local Mercedes-Benz dealer for orders.
Your dealer can find the required spare parts number and check the availability of the spare part.
"
Thank you for your understanding.

I replied "Thank you for your prompt reply to my inquiry. I am surprised by this arrangement, as I just ordered some MB OE parts from MB Classic Center in Los Angeles, USA."

... I guess: even if same company, they still have different rules for different countries :censored:

I have had similar reply when contacting Classic Center in Germany. I asked about local dealer and they did not have any idea how to order etc and requested that I contact directly to Classic Center.. Maybe the dealer is not familiar to work with Classic Center and inquiries for classic parts are close to zero in here..

Gentlemen :)

I decided to pull the plug, and bought it from FCP Euro
Mercedes Brake Hardware Kit - Centric 11735024
Qty: 1
Price: $20.29

It was free shipping to L.A. (freight forwarder), then to Manila by air, then to my home ... + US$30 ... no choice really

UPDATE: R129 S.A. rear caliper pins

... so I did pull the trigger from FCP Euro by ordering last Thursday (USA time) and paid US$20.29 for the parts + US$ 31.57 for 2 day shipping to my freight forwarder's address in L.A., then air shipping to Manila Philippines. They said that the parts would arrive on 27March ... since UPS tracking showed that it still hasn't been delivered on 28March being that it's already the 29th of March. I sent FCP Euro an email inquiry as to what happened to my parts. They replied, they will send a refund for the shipping charges, end of reply. I further emailed them again, stating the urgency of the parts, that I paid US$20.29 and paying US$31.57 + US$ air shipping to Manila, asking what happened to the parts ordered ... so that I can plan my options as I urgently needed the parts. I just got an email notice from them, an hour ago, that the parts have been delivered.

IMHO, there are more "reliable" on-line stores out there for MB parts, FCPEuro is maybe 3rd or 4th on the list ... as far as I'm concerned.

Best regards to all :)
