Rear Camber Link

I am replacing the rear suspension links on my 1992 500E. I purchased a Lemforder camber link (Part # 210-350-34-06) and ran into a problem with the diameter of the bushing on the end that attaches to the axle hub knuckle. The original arm has a sleeve that is attached to the arm and slides into the attachment point on the hub knuckle. The Lemforder replacement did not come with the sleeve attached and the sleeve on the original arm is too large to be pressed into the bushing since the diameter is different. I am wondering if the Lemforder arm uses a bolt that is larger and the original sleeve is no longer used. Any ideas? Pictures are attached. Thanks.

ffinn: Trying to recall my experience when I did this job a number of months ago. Did you purchase new hardware or plan to reuse old ? I used new hardware that I believe are now all XZN bolts that did not need a sleeve.

Regards,

Peter Weissman

I did not purchase new hardware, but I am thinking this is the solution. I will see if I can order new hardware tomorrow. Thanks for the input.

ffin: You'll need an XZN (AKA triple square) metric bit that I bought on Amazon. Could not find at the auto parts stores or Harbor Freight. I forget the size but I bought an inexpensive 3/8 inch drive set that included the normal metric sizes.
Don't forget when tightening the fasteners the drive axle needs to be parallel to the ground.

You need the bolt kits.

Can someone post a comprehensive list of all of the part numbers (arms) and hardware and tools that are required to do both sides of the rear end suspension refirb?

Factory MB and Lemforder/quality aftermarket parts would be appreciated.

Anyone have all of this information at hand?

Cheers,
Gerry

Gary,

Here is the spreadsheet I put together when I was doing the RR on my rear subframe. Does not include information on the tools I purchased, but I will provide those in a future post. HTH.

Thanks
Jeff

I have purchased some original OEM parts I ordered at the MB dealer a while back for one of mine 500E's.
