Recommended tires for 17" AMG monoblocks?

Hello everyone,

The time has come for me to replace my Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport tires mounted on 17" AMG monoblocks wheels.

Unfortunately, it seems like Bridgestone doesn't make this model of tire anymore.

My fronts are:
245/40r17
My rears are:
265/40r17

I like the fit/ride quality/noise of my current tires (before they wore out) so does anyone have experience with tires of a similar size that aren't terrible?

It seems like Michelin Pilot Sport 4Ss are available in my existing sizes but that's about it (and they're a little pricey). Besides that I'd need to size up the rears to 275/40r17.

I drive my car regularly but don't do any track day stuff - mostly just highway commuting. As a side note: my wife gets carsick easily so comfort (i.e. noise) takes a priority over hypothetical performance enhancements. Ideally they'd look as squared off as the current Bridgestone tires but that's about all of my preference.

Any recommendations?

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S are generally good tyres.

What wheel width do you have, btw? I'm not familiar with 17" Monos wider than 8.5" and a 265 rear tire is super wide on a 8.5 wheel. Spec sheet for a 265/40 tire requires a minimum 9.0" wheel...

:scratchchin:

I’ve been running Continental ExtremeContact Sport (now ExtremeContact Sport 02) tires in 245/45/17 and 275/40/17 sizes with good results. But a 265 tire in a 17” size is not available.

I'm honestly not sure what the width of the wheel is as I haven't replaced the tires since I bought it. I was just going off of the tires currently on the wheel.

I was able to find these online but I had to search for them individually. Odd. Maybe because the rears have a different load index, speed rating, and load range from the fronts? (98W SL for rears and 99Y XL for fronts)

Everything else about them seems ok though!

Check the width of both front & rear wheel. If they are 17x8.5 all around, I'd stick with the same size tire all around (245/45).

Well, I ended up going with the Continental ExtremeContact Sport 02. They arrive in two days so I'll be able to actually try them out soon.

It seems like they're pretty similar to the Michelin but they're available in more applicable sizes.

Also, regarding the wheel width, my tire shop said my rear wheels were "a bit wider" than the front but not by much (they hadn't removed the tires yet). So I'm interpreting that as maybe I have 8" wide fronts and 8.5" wide rears?

Anyway, thanks again for all the help!

If the tire shop didn't pull the wheels and look at the specs stamped on the back of the spokes, they're just guessing.

AFAIK, those wheels were not offered in 8.0 and 8.5 widths... and, a 265 rear tire is wider than allowed on an 8.5 wheel. The front wheels do not appear the 7.5" version in your photo. I'm guessing you have a square setup with 8.5" all around, and if so, they should have the same tire size all around.
