How does one get at the upper bolts of the front shock absorbers? The left one maybe by removing the air cleaner. The right one seems impossible. Any help?

I have not done the front shocks on my G, but it is eventually on the list as part of a front suspension refresh (I already have the tie rods, steering shock, and so forth.

Can you post a photo of the top bolts for the shocks? And also your year/model of truck? Different years and engines may have different levels of accessibility, so what works for my truck with an inline-six may not work for someone with a truck that has an M113....

I got both shocks changed yesterday . It took about 2 hours at a shop. The Driver's side was easy. Just remove the cap on the aircleaner. That gives one room to use 2 15/16" wrenches. It takes while as one can only turn the bolt about on flat at a time. On the passenger side it was more time consuming. One has to take out the radiator water tank as well as the overflow tank underneath it. There were a lot of screws to undo, plus hoses. Once they are out one can access the shock mount. There was more room with the wrenches to undo the top bolt. BTW the original shocks were completely shot. The truck has about 250k km. I should change the rears as well.

I need to do my own front shocks. I have almost 130K miles on my G. Fortunately they are not horribly expensive. Thanks for the update.
