Hello:

I would like to know if anyone can give me leads as to where I can source for an ETA (throttle actuator) for my 1994 E60 (E500 base model) ?

I can get one here in Japan from dealer but was quoted 380,000 JPyen for the unit only (that's like north of USD $4000 ! Yikes).

Thanks in advance for any help.

Should be the same as normal E500. Need VIN number to check correct part number and price here.

Are you looking for a new ETA from the dealer, or a refurbished one? I believe you can order from Speed-Autoteile in Germany, they ship OE/dealer parts worldwide... and the price should be much lower. Might still be ~$1500 USD though. We can get it for less in the USA but most vendors won't ship overseas.

You could try http://www.buymbparts.biz/ , they will ship overseas last time I checked.

FYI, 000-141-94-25 (the late ETA, should be used on all 1994 models) is $1400 USD list price in the USA as of March-2012. Verify fitment using the photos from this thread:

The E60AMG ETA should be identical to the "normal" one.
Correct. The ETA is the same regardless of engine displacement, the only difference is the early vs late connector as shown in the Wiki (linked above).

Thank you all for your help. I finally located one at the AutoParts World and placed an order today. The issue should be resolved once the new ETA arrives and get replaced. Thanx a bunch again.

For the last several years, my E60 has been experiencing intermittent and irregular "fibrillation" like idling during stops. Either the cause had to do with the electrical or fuel distribution problem and we were puzzled by the culprit. Even after checking the probable sources, the symptom did not go away. One of the major discovery was the fuel tank issue with internal rust. We thought we finally found the problem. However, even after this was addressed, things were better for some time but recurred.

Fast forward, skipping all other minor problems we attended to along the way, last month we finally discovered the real problem.
One of the things we addressed along the way was replacing the two distributors with a new set. That was early this year and yet the intermittent shaking returned. Finally, it dawned on us that it was the issue with the distributors internal surface substance that was prone to moisture contamination, which resulted in the irregular firing. Solution was actually quite simple and did not cost much. The shop simply multiple coated the internal surfaces of the distributor caps to prevent moisture adsorption and the shaking has been remedied. After so many years of trying to figure out what the cause was, the solution was simple.

Hopefully, this would be of help to anybody out there with similar issues.

I would have to ask for the exact material, but I believe it is some sort of ceramic coating which he said was a simple procedure of multiple coating the internal surface of the OEM's moisture prone surface. It took him relatively short time to finish and no special skills to do.

My E60 has been running well since with the symptoms gone, back to her smooth idling.
