So I have an opportunity to buy a customized a set of tools (i.e. I get to choose the pieces which are in the set) for working on my car. I wanted to ask if some one has a recommendation for a baseline set of tools which should be part of it.

Alternatively, if there is a kit someone has bought which they have found has all/most of the tools they use, I would be interested in knowing that too.

Thanks in advance.

Metric short and deep sockets 8-21mm. Ratchets, extensions, universals, metric combi wrenches. Set of triple square bits. Short and long torx bits and metric line wrenches ought to get you started.

In a few cases you will need 7mm and 22mm sizes (possibly 6mm and 24mm also?), but you could buy those separately as needed...

A set of screwdrivers , 16oz ball peen hammer- dead blow type are handy....if you don't already have them around the casa.
