Stereo system is alive:) Door speaker upgrade video:)

hey there
Here is a video where i show you for the most part what ive done to the door speakers in my 500e,in my quest for a fully functional stereosystem in my Blackbeauty :)

Thanks for the video, lowman. I'm not well versed in audio equipment either. I do have Polk Audio surround system in my home and am happy with the sound. I'm curious to know your take on the sound after completion. It seems to be a fairly easy solution for me as my seats and carpet will be coming out. Nice to know about the intersection of wires to the dash and door speakers.

When I bypassed the door speaker amplification unit like you did on BB, it changed the door! I have to use blue Loctite on the nuts for the door now. :D

hey mister.
The sound was actually mind blowing...ive kept the rear ones standard...but upgraded the fronts *(dash and front doors)...and the system plays sooo well actually. As i said in the video..i havent heard the original system,,,,because of it hasnt been connected or been up and running. The original door speaker on the left hand side was broken,,the membrane was torn, but long story short..it plays super well.
The connection point is the only connection point up front..and you will definetly see them when you are looking down there. You can use a 9v battery..to check what wires go to each speakers.:)

hahahahah thats funny mister.Definetly does play very well in my car at the moment. Can play loud..and the sound is pretty much crisp and defined.Still thinkin about upgrading the rears aswell..but to be honest i dont see the need to do it when they play as good as they do.But i do think i would notice a difference if i put in new speakers in the rear aswell. But for now it is definetly good enough :)

I think you will find, as I did that your door speakers (if you left them in) would have been just fine. The aftermarket wiring wizards usually hook up to existing wiring and that renders the doors teats up. In my case, the speakers were hardly used at all, only vibrating when the door was closed.

Bypassing the wiring from the onboard door speaker amp and going to the speaker was like being in front of your kick at a metal concert.

lowman, do you have an aftermarket amplifier driving the speakers, or are you using the factory amps?

If you have the "sound system" rear speakers with dual tweeters, I'd leave them alone... those are quite good for factory drivers, and they're only for rear fill anyway. Spend the money in the front doors & dash.

the door speakers on my car was broken.Had a tear in the membrane..so i had to replace them.
The wiring to the dash and doors is the excisting wiring from the speakers and down to the headunit.but from there ive put on new wiring down to the splitters,,hidden behind the kick panel in the passenger side footwell :)

A couple of pictures here for you...unfortunatly not of the wiring. But i might shoot some pics of how i wired it

Yes you had to do it, and you did it right. On my C126 i refurbed interior when I had it all out, i removed bat-shit OE BUTCHERED wiring and the aftermarket wiring and started over with proper routing like you did. I also removed all noise cancelation stock material and applied dynomat on the floor pan. I am sure you will do this as well at some point.

Lowman, did you put the Polk tweeters in the dash?
Hey R
No i havent put them up there yet,i still have some alpine 2 ways up there,,but i will make a bracket so i can fit the Polk tweeters in the mounting hole
